Some of our Schnuck’s stores here have increased sales of 3% this past year.

The problem with " moronic ideas" is that they sound great to moronic voters.
" pay their fair share!" rinse repeat.

Grocery stores make literally pennies on the dollar on fresh food items. Bread, milk, produce, etc. Yea, let's tighten the clamp on that. Grocery stores will stop selling it then. It won't be worth the shrinkage. Awesome plan.

People wonder why they are in this situation, and it’s because they voted for it…. You can’t make this up….

Watch the crowd cheer it on. This is why the economy is always shite under a Democratic president.

She is brain dead if she suggests this. Grocery prices are far downstream of the effects that she and her traitorous administration have created. If you're going to call for price control, then you are effectively telling the world that you should receive a single vote.

Basically she’s saying that there’s no way her policies can curb inflation. Tax/spend and high inflation is here to stay, and she will mandate price controls, which will destroy the production of basic needs….

If this worked, Biden would done this long ago.
Like Warren wanting to Federalize the Electric Companies.
I have a better solution, cheaper too.
Overthrow, Venezuela. Ship all Democrats to start their own country. I predict it takes less time to fail, than it took Venezuela to crash.

How will she do it? Will she say that a gallon of milk can't cost more than $3, or that mark-up can't be more than 3%?
If they set a mark-up limit, expect a lot of places to go cash only. Then people complain and the government rolls out their no-fee cashless payment solution.
Plan a desired outcome, then create a problem that can be solved by the desired outcome.

Harris will propose, what her campaign bills as “the first-ever federal ban on price gouging on food and groceries—setting clear rules of the road to make clear that big corporations can’t unfairly exploit consumers to run up excessive corporate profits on food and groceries

They'll make sure the government goons putting down food riots are well fed, don't worry.
Might be a good job to look into once I lose my normal gig, tbh. Eating good while beating the hell out of the hungry? Sign me up now.

Hardly. Look how fat a few insurance and pharm companies got off Obamacare and had their competition eliminated practically overnight. These mega-corporations love government insertion into the market and that's why this illusion of "free trade" that many republicans parrot needs to end.

As I understand it many states have price gouging laws on the books, mostly for state of emergency situations.
I'd love to see actual evidence of widespread price gouging that would be responsible for a rising in inflation. Instead of rare occurrences.
But how you enforce this? Mom and Pop raise their price of eggs by 10% because of inflation, let's say they were charging 2.70 for eggs, then they increased it to $2.99. Maybe not exactly 10% but close. Are you going to say that is price gouging and fine a mom and pop store thousands of dollars for simply raising the price of eggs in a period of inflation?
BTW I looked up the Louisiana State Law. According to state Law the key phrase is gross disparity. I wouldn't think my situation above would meet gross disparity. My guess would be in an egg shortage in the united states, a grocery story charges $20 for a dozen eggs when they would normally charge $2. If someone were to in a non emergency, no-one would buy their stuff. You know evil capitalism and all.

What calling for gvt spending controls?
Posted on 8/15/24 at 6:00 am to HailHailtoMichigan!
This surprises me that they would call for something as drastic as this in an economy that is the most robust in history and the envy of the world.

Someone’s finally doing something about the price of crawfish!
