Semi-auto rifle that accepts large capacity magazines. Could be anything from a M-1 carbine WWII style rifle to an AR-15, MAC-10/11, MP5, AK-47, etc.

Sooo.. M1 8 shot with a stripper clip okay... M1 carbine 8 shot with a mag... Not okay?

Sooo...basically, regulate the way a magazine fits into those...or any rifle?? Great idea for a black market item...so there's that..

I am including "machine pistols" too. Actually any pistol with a high capacity mag would qualify. Remember, pistols kill far more people annually than rifles of any kind. It's just rifles are usually used in these mass shooting events (except in cases like Virginia Tech where the dude used a pistol and numerous magazines).

So, yeah, the ability to shoot many rounds without reloading and the ability to reload quickly is the big problem here. Not the "kind" of gun (or length of gun) necessarily.

Sooo...you're not even referring to the rifle? It's the magazine?? You're against "assault magazines"?

How successful has it been in Australia since they cracked down after the massacre in Tasmania in the 90's?

You tell us since only 15% of their population actually complied with the law.

I'm confused..So, the m1 with the top loaf clip would be okay...

Yet the EXACT SAME RIFLE, just a little shorter, with the rounds being fed from a bottom fed magazine would be an assault rifle?

Same cartridge... Same ballistics... Same rate of fire... But one is bad... One is good...

His views closely match yours on most subjects.

He just hates Trump and a few posters here that annoy him.

Other than maybe being mildly gay, he's a good dude.

You just made a specific example of the m1 carbine being an assault rifle because of the mode of being loaded. The exact same gun, with the same rate of fire and damage would be okay according to you, simply because it is loaded from a strip clip from the top.

Edit: Damn boy you're quick on the downvote. Facts hurt eh?

Depends on the capacity of the magazines. A top loaded clip is rather slow to reload, not to mention how cumbersome it is to carry around a bunch of 5 round clips.

I think the ultimate solution is to outlaw semi-auto handguns as well as magazine fed rifles. If you just outlaw magazines, it's too easy to make your own or buy them underground.

Allow bolt-action, lever action, pump action rifles/shotguns as well as revolvers to remain. Ban everything else. Make it a felony to be caught with a banned gun.

You want to see a circle-jerk? I was just in an alt-history forum that was amazingly anti-gun.

Yup. Seems to be the case.

Trivia:

*The modification that "The Rifleman" made to his trigger guard made for the first "assault rifle".*

You know that a lot of bolt action rifles have magazines too right?

Kind of like how it's currently a felony to commit homicide with a gun. Or posses a gun with a controlled substance? Or posses a gun and be a convicted felon?

Because those laws seem to be making a huge difference

So what's the magic number? Is my 20+1 standard mag on my 5.7 handgun too large? It's the standard size. It's a hand gun.

Like how outlawing murder stops murders from occurring?

Fine. Let's outlaw any mode of transportation over the speed of. 25mph. And while we're at it, let's ban alcohol and tobacco.

Let's save all the lives broseph. Are you in?

Or is a death caused from cigs/alcohol/vehicles mean less than a death via firearm?

By the way, I am not downplaying how much culture plays into this either.

Most of Europe hasn't had the culture wars and racial strife like we have had. America is unique. We have become a melting pot of a gazillion cultures, races, religions, and political viewpoints. It is amazing, honestly, that the country didn't crumble long ago.

This is why I get angry when snooty Brits look down upon our crime problem. They blame it all on guns but don't realize that their own history is one of a very homogenous population. It's a different story in America where about 15% of our population is still pissed about slavery, about 20% of our population is comprised of illegal aliens (or their children) and where there is a MASSIVE cultural divide between urban areas and the country. You don't see this in a place like Britain or France -- the country folks think the same way as the guy in London or Paris.

Any Church that does not have at least 3 crack shots posted during Church activities is being irresponsible...or worse. Unless they all are willing to stand on Jesus' turn-the-cheek Principle and bear the consequences.

And a smart Church would be actively noticing - and perphaps even have an assigned individual to monitor/follow up on any Facebook, Social Media posting from attendees.

Either that...or be sitting ducks. Because the hatred of Religious folk is heating up.
