Not good enough. Shut it down when the HEAT INDEX reaches 88.

Basically no work from May until November.

I posted my comment in response to someone claiming no one gets in trouble for weed.

Who said that? I do recall someone asking how many people were in Angola for simply possessing weed.

This is completely false.

DNA being used as a forensic tool in the mid 80s, as well as various other similar advances, explains that jump.

There's no doubt that bleeding hearts such as yourself have already had your way with "restorative justice" and ignoring crime/criminals. So cut the crap.

So this one judge has ruled that the DOC has been doing it wrong since 1880 when the prison was established? Must be tough being him with the wealth of knowledge he possesses.

You didn’t fix anything. I’m using the same language DOC uses. LINK

False.

“Tough on Crime” legislation passed in the 80s and 90s explains the massive increase in incarceration.

Prison in Louisiana was established more than 100 years before that.

I guess we can say the same about you.

So you're saying it's impossible that, even though crime is down, advances in forensics isn't enough to overcome the reduction in crime to increase incarnation rates?

Why is that necessarily so?

1hr work, 20 min rest in the shade, you can rotate 4 groups of 8 prisoners.

Oh you think DOC gives 20 minute breaks an hour?

I know we love to downvote facts we don’t like. Can you post your source that states inmates get 20 minutes of break every hour? I’ll wait.

I think this is the part when you tell us how Christian and morally superior you are.

A person paying his or her penance as a laborer is actually honorable. Are the conditions they have to work in hard? Yep!

Working on a farm in hard conditions is actually respected by many, and the opposite of your view voiced above. Actual labor can change people's lives for the better.

The people doing this work disagree with you.

If it’s so honorable, why don’t you volunteer?

Maybe you should go offer up your morals in conjugal visits.

Remind me again how 1 tent is necessarily insufficient?

Does my math not work out?

IDGAF what they think. That's why we don't allow them to vote.

If I have to work to support myself then so do they.

Maybe just maybe I've spent time doing similar labor in similar conditions, but you probably didn't consider this.

Bingo.

I did a year in construction, last year specifically.

Those three weeks last summer where the ambient high was 100+ me and some guys were redoing a pool deck. Sun was hitting us twice at certain parts of the day (reflecting off the water). Always ended the day dehydrated no matter how much I drank.

Not going to say it didn't suck because it did. Oddly enough the two older guys (me and the boss, upper 30s) did more work than the guys in their 20s.

So yeah, I don't have much sympathy. I've done shite just as hard as a free man. They can do it too.
