You know another thing that's really interesting is that people don't understand that all that plastic can be burned to create so much energy to fuel their plastic-encased batteries!

Plastic. Fuel for the world.

Think of plastic as gasoline in solid form.

Hank if you cared about this girl, you would want her in school doing 16 year old girl things instead of being exploited by her parents.

What her parents are doing is cruel.
Again, you must understand the thought processes of a person with Asperger. They tend to fixate on something, once they become interested in it.

For about a year (at age 5), my godson fixated upon sharks. He could tell you everything about sharks. He would not shut up about sharks. He once hit a kid for saying something wrong about sharks.

There really is not much that a parent or anyone else can do about the obsessive fixation. It is simply a symptom of the syndrome.

Clearly, this girl fixated upon the issue of climate change. Again, based upon my personal experience with Asperger, I can guarantee you that this child read everything she could find on the topic, from both sides. The majority of this board (including me) would tend to disagree with most of her conclusions, but it is ignorant and uninformed to think that she did not actually examine the issue from both sides. It is the nature of the syndrome for her to have done so.

I agree that the Thunberg parents have allowed her to go far overboard, as far as allowing her to take so pivotal a position on the world stage.

I have not done anything more than cursory research on the dynamics of this particular family, and I have no intent of doing so, but I rather doubt that the current clown show was originally part of the parents’ intent.

Based upon my personal experience with Asperger‘s syndrome, I suspect that Greta simply wanted to do her school boycott and nothing more. It is and extraordinarily typical behavior. And Asperger kids are typically bright… very bright. (e.g. my godson is about to receive his B.A. at age 19, with a 4.0).

Missing a day of school per week was not going to hurt her at all. In fact, she probably was learning more at home than she would’ve learned at school.

The problem arose when her fame grew like Topsy. Her parents could (and probably “should”) have nipped it in the bud.

Funny video but I'd like to see actual proof that it's her family's car.

How long does one of these batteries last??

Not nearly as long as a properly maintained ICE.

Is there a disposal problem?

They have to be treated as hazardous waste.

can any of the materials be recycled to make new batteries??

Some of it, but not nearly as much as an ICE which is almost entirely metals which are 100% recyclable without degradation of mechanical properties, unlike plastics. Recycled chemical components from Li-ion batteries also do not have the performance of virgin msterials, an issue known in lead acid battery production too.

This. It's either a photoshopped image or evidence of mindless noncompostable waste of others collected by Greta.

To attribute this activity to the Thunbergs, if proven false, could set oneself up for a lawsuit.
