We literally have a better chance of developing Star Trek style teleportation than laying high speed track and building enough passenger rail cars to replace airline travel in 10 years.
God these people are dumb.
God these people are dumb.

That will be an interesting pitch to the conservationists...proactive ruminant extinction to save the planet.

you forgot to add "if possible" at the end of your thread title:
Green new deal plans to replace 100% of domestic flights with high speed rails by 2029, if possible.

And folks are crowing about eminent domain along the Mexican border.
Maybe Trump should call it an elevated rail instead of wall.
You might be on to something. Trump should change the designs to have the high speed train run along the top And cover the sides with solar panels.
There isnt a dem in the entire country that could vote against that.
Trump could then tout that he is the greenest President in history. It would be yuge!

choose flights over rail
I just talked to a lady who said she never flys. She recently took a round trip from Houston to the West Coast, and back, on Amtrak.
I believe when the rail infrastructure is replaced, and Amtrak can go full bullet to many more destinations across America, rail travel will gradually replace the increasingly unfriendly skies as Americans' principal mode of travel.

I'd like to bang OT 10s the rest of my life, if possible.

How long was the commute to the West coast?
How many people fly per day?...+3MM
It's not even possible logistically.
Gonna eliminate private jets?
Ole Nancy, Obama, Chuck, shitforbrains and AOC gonna commute via train from east to west coast???

Eminent Domain?
How many F'n trains and lines will it take to move +3MM ppl per day?
Rail and train maintenance?
Crashes and delays?
lol FFS it's absolutely laughable
What about all the airline employees, pilots. They just automatically become employed in the rail system?
What about the mailing system? FedEx, UPS just fire their airline employees?
does it force truckers (independent contractors) to just eat the bill on their rigs and buy electric rigs?
What about the thousands of "HOT SHOT" drivers?
Guess, their gonna go back to sail boats to cross the Atlantic.
The fact that they actually think this is attainable and could be done logistically...

That this is possible in 10 years isn't even believable science fiction. It's pure fantasy. And Amtrak has a major incident every year running a couple hundred routes a day. Imagine how they'll handle twenty or thirty thousand. Lastly, this plan clearly came from someone who's never left the BosWash Corridor.

Ain’t going to have to worry about commuters anymore.

Why do people think high speed rail using less fuel/energy than an airplane at altitude????
Does anyone know about this?
