Video game culture is a bit different. Games like Last of Us 2 sold well in spite of or maybe even b/c of its perceived and blatant woke themes. I think GTA 6 will end up being another 50-100 million sales game regardless of the changes...but I'll miss the Faggio.

I would argue the Last of Us 2 sold well because of how good the first game was. I heard the rumors before the game came out and bought it anyway because I had to see for myself. I still loved the gameplay but hated the story. I will not buy TLoU 3, assuming there is one.
GTA 6 will still sell huge numbers despite the direction because most people will need to experience it firsthand to decide how they feel about it. But it could cause lasting damage to the future of the franchise.
The female protagonist doesn't bother me but the change in humor does.

Sure I think you could argue that point from several perspectives but I played all those games when they came out. My friends and I had a blast with the older ones but we never bring up the characters or reference any of the humor like we do old movies as they were derivative of 80, and 90's culture that we lived through. Perhaps younger folks do IDK.

Was it the woke themes(god that word is overused and getting cringe) or the shitty direction the story went that you hated? I didnt care about gender/ sexual orientation shite at all but I did not like the story for other reasons.

I'm apathetic about the female playable character.
As far as the rest of it, I can literally have a digital hooker suck my characters dick, and beat her to death to get my money back... Yet some minority humor is what people are worried about.

I & others canceled preorders of bf5 , and it did far worse than predicted. ( never bothered with LoU2. The fans hated the Abby smash! aspect of the game)
BF5 tried to be Fortnite because one of the execs/ developers had, i kid you not, his 10yo daughter ask why she couldn’t play as a girl character in the infantry.
So they put in a female soldier with a blue Mohawk & a bionic arm!
