I have no problem with cutting back, but targeted cuts are just a beginning. We need statewide cuts and not just targeted cuts against your political enemies.
But what do you expect from a political animal like Edwards. He's going to use his muscle to get what he wants in the La. tradition. And what he wants is higher taxes.
Well said.

Vetoed projects include dollars for road work in Acadia, St. Landry, Iberia and Vermilion parishes. A $12 million road extension in Lafayette was stripped. The Port of Iberia won't get road money.
Sad. Looks like he stripped all of the oil field parishes of any road funding. Suing the oil field companies and now stripping the areas of road funding? Edwards is apparently clueless as to what drives economic prosperity in Louisiana.

He won't be running against Vitter and a divided GOP field of ankle biters again.

And his republican opponent will be like that as well.

I think you are underestimating him.
Sloth’s a big enough whore that he’s turned a bunch of tricks.

Yeah I'm not hearing or feeling any of the non idiot republicans interest in the job, its going to be Landry.
I asked Steve Scalise if he was going to run at Washington Mardi Gras and he laughed and slapped me on the back.

Nobody believes you're important enough to meet and hold a conversation with the house majority whip.
With that said, your prospective titty melt over JBE losing to someone like Landry sounds pretty good though.

Don't blame me - I voted Vitter

#3 Republican in the House for as long as he wants to be or Governor of Louisiana for up to 8 years? Tough choice.
Probably rising to Speaker beats anything he could do as Governor.

If the legislature forces the Gov to cut our way to a balanced budget, don’t bitch about cuts.

I can see him moving into the minority leader position if the R's lose the House (and I think they will) then becoming speaker when they regain the House (and they will).

Medicaid expansion that's blowing up our budget to levels we can't afford
Why lie about things when everyone knows you are lying?
Better yet, tell us how much Medicaid expansion has cost us in state dollars.

Either of those beats Governor of Louisiana with regards to job security.
If they lose the House, everyone can blame Paul Ryan for his lame duck term as Speaker rather than Scalise or McCarthy.
Hell, his very presence given the wounds he got from the assassination attempt means a lot of credit with the caucus. It would take some major frickups to override that.

Good post, yes much of this should be cut out too.

What the frick are you talking about?
It's costing over 50 million more than projected. They took 30 million out of our budget just for Medicaid. It's blowing the fricking budget up.
Are you an expert on Alaskan government?

Now, do you want to talk about the mountain of cash he sits on? with more on the way?
Vitter left Jeff Landry almost $4 million in his PAC.
Other candidates won't have trouble raising money either.
Polling a year and a half out means very little. Wait till the negative spending starts. 58% will drop to 42% and all that money means nothing as a vote still only costs $10 in New Orleans, the liberal bastion of JBE's primary support.

Why would government build a livestock pavilion in the first place?
Interesting they would ask for money from the state to do it.
Most of the time the parks and rec departments in the parish handles those type projects.
Livestock/rodeo arenas when run correctly can make money. There's a ton of recreational horsemen, cattle associations, etc. always looking for spots to host competitions.

T Boy, great question, but do you know the answer?
Two years ago we were told it would cost nothing, but now we are in 2018. Over two years have passed, how much is it costing the state now? How many more state employees did we have to hire?
Anyone know?
