Gonna sting real bad when ERCOT comes back showing that they could've kept the lights on for everyone, 100% of the time, had it not been for federal (and maybe even state) government regulations to meet Green Energy standards.

Wouldn’t surprise me at all if that’s the point.

Yep.

Chynese involvment?

The US arm of Chinese company Sungrow has secured a contract to supply a fully integrated energy storage system to the 100MW Chisholm Grid project in the state of Texas.
Chisholm Grid has been under construction since August and will be one of the largest battery energy storage facilities in Texas when work onsite at Fort Worth is completed this June.
The facility, utilising industry NMC battery technology, will generate revenue from the sale of energy and grid stabilisation services to the ERCOT wholesale electricity market.

I would expect your run of the mill lack of planning and incompetence.
Incompetency in government is bipartisan.

Chyna has access to our power grid in TX.

I bet this will be the case too but what is sort of the statistical evidence for this? Did they start relying on wind and solar and then when the solar got blanketed in snow and the windmills froze the energy supply sunk below demand? Whereas had they been going on pure oil and gas they could have continued to meet demand as it rose?

Green energy failed, non green energy failed.
The state insisting on being a silo and not connected to the rest of the country failed.
Gas plants went down, wind went down, solar went down. This whole thing was a cluster frick. If they had forced companies to spend money to weatherize all of these plants, we would be in mcuh better shape.
The other issue is 60% of the grids are considered "essential" and can't be turned off to help rotate the power so the 40% off is forced to deal with it by themselves.

What's the return on investment though to winterize like you're in New England when Texas will only face this once every 40 years? Sometimes you just get caught with your pants down because it wasn't practical or needed to own a belt.

Except this happened 10 years ago, and then happened like 10 before that... This is not a once in a lifetime situation. It has happened multiple times in our lifetimes.
How many people dying is acceptable that it would be OK to spend a few million to not have this happen?

You want to be independent and have your power grid independent of the rest of us. This is a problem with that kind of thinking.

China is massively expanding its weather-modification program, saying it will be able to cover half the country in artificial rain and snow by 2025
Since they already have access to our grid here in TX, are they doing this here?

This is 100% the case. Between fed regulations, green energy BS, and some state regs we got screwed. Now this is a once in a 100 year deal, but it is NOT a capacity issue, it is a production issue.

I gave you two links showing it was the case one of them being Bloomberg but you chase me into this thread telling me I have bad info or am a liar?
Who is the liar? I have shown my sources where are yours stating otherwise?

Only the Bloomberg link counts and it said the request was granted. But that aside, if there was no red tape we'd still be in this situation. You simply ignore the energy infrastructure problem that isn't a result of gov regulation but is the result of living in the south and building economically for the usual environmental impacts, not for canada weather landing in the whole of TX. Do you get it? The red tape issue, which may not have even been a real issue, was not the cause of this clusterfrick.

The entire state was shut down ten years ago? Twenty years ago as well?
I get that this is a clusterfrick, but acting as though this regularly occurs is ignorance at best, and intentional disingenuous at worst.
1899 was a long time ago.

So the red tape didn't force Texas into a 30% wind production and the closing of the coal plants? Red Tape didn't delay the response to this by days? We are now ramping up production at both the coal and natural gas plants to get electricity back to consumers.
The red tape and all of its layers are exactly responsible for this. Texas' reserve capacity could have handled this.
