Government secretly orders Google to track anyone searching certain names, addresses, and phone numbers
quote:
In an attempt to track down criminals, federal investigators have started using new "keyword warrants" and used them to ask Google to provide them information on anyone who searched a victim's name or their address during a particular year, an accidentally unsealed court document that Forbes found shows.

So, if I get invited over to a person’s house and they later get killed, I get swept up in a warrant if I had to google directions?

Think of the millions who typed in "Gabby Pertito" this year.

Well, I was actually curious what “Eli Goldfinger” referred to, but I’ll be damned if I’m searching for that now.

I hope no pornstar names are on the list.

Alexa says “It helps to be a 12 year old girl.”

Timely info. I have been noticing the past couple of days on my YouTube homepage a "#shorts" "beta" panel of suggested videos. The ones that comprise the width of the phone screen are all very suggestive if not borderline obscene tiktoks of young girls (as in teens).
I've never clicked on one. I use YouTube exclusively for kids shows, uploading my own videos of fam/nature, Scott Adams podcast, and streaming church services.
This seems like some sort of trap for the conservative Christian set.
Eta: wow, i just checked youtube, and the lurid teens have been replaced with apostate celebrity "ministers." i shite you not. It's Osteen, Furtick and some other BS.

Not through Duck Duck Go, I'm not.
I never use Google for any searches, and only use Bing for work-related searches. Duckduckgo for personal stuff.

Must not be very secret if it's being discussed on public online forums.

Secrets are never revealed?

Of course they did...

This was left unredacted in court documents IIRC.
Hardly the only time shite like this happened. IIRC, at one point the BR mayor posted an unredacted report online that included the names and payout amounts for police confidential informants. That shite WAS secret until she screwed up.
