Well overdue, one of the few positives about Gavin.

In one of his first actions after surviving an election seeking to oust him from office, Gov. Gavin Newsom on Thursday essentially abolished single-family zoning in California — and green-lighted a series of bills intended to bolster the state’s housing production.

Zoning laws need to be abolished on federal level

What? How could anyone possibly view this as a positive? Who wants a bunch of apartments popping up next door?

They can bolster the state's housing production without destroying neighborhoods along the way.

Sounds like the retarded OP

They are called slums, ghettos, shantytowns, and projects.
I predict an even more pronounced rise in crime.
Even more of Cali can expect to see this in their future.

Gotta find somewhere to put all those illegals that you plan to pay shite wages and no taxes on.

I'm sure that the people in Beverly hills are going to be really thrilled with those apartments next door.

Well lets see, I want to build an apt complex. I could build it in the 9th ward, or right at the entrance of Meadowbrook in Mandeville, hmm which do you think will be more successful? I can use govt subsidies to make it real affordable, and my tenants will have ample access to countless big screen TVs and a plethora of electronic devices and cars right at their doorstep. What could go wrong with getting rid of single family zoning?
After all its just another form of racism we are eliminating right?

Home owners associations will not like this. Might be a profitable legal operation here.

Trump said they would do this.

No need to.
Property values in wealthy areas are high enough to scare off any apartment construction that can/will be turned into Section 8.
Middle class? Different story.
eta-HHTM is a moron.

We need to build a wall on the California borders. Those nutty liberals are going to be pouring out of there for years

When they bulldoze a few lots in your neighborhood and build low income apartments, get back to us.
Unless, of course, you're already living in a low income apartment complex, in which case carry on.
If anyone is left that still can't see that Newsom is rapidly destroying the once beautiful state of California, then we just can't help them.
I have fond memories of growing up on the California coast. Long Beach, seeing the Hollywood Hills in the distance, fishing from the Redondo Beach pier, Dodgers home games, Magic era Lakers in the L.A. Forum, going to arcades and skating rinks on Anza Ave., taking a day trip to Disneyland and getting on ride after ride instead of standing in line all day to ride two rides even after you paid double for the "express pass"...
Good memories. But I'll never go farther back into California than the Bishop/Independence areas there in the valley between the Sierras and the Whites. People are still remotely sane there. The rest of the state is shite.

You think it's a shite show out there now. . That fricking clown has just be validated. It's time for a split in the country. I know how my father's father's felt in 1850s. We are from Jones county MS so that makes it a bit more complicated.

How does Houston plan without zoning?
Not commenting on your comment, but just giving a little context to what "zoning" laws mean.
