I'd like to see someone give a reason why all of this can't be accomplished in Baton Rouge.

Looks good to the Catholics.

I'm not Catholic or a JBE fan and I approve of this trip.

Which JBE has constantly failed to develop a plan for and how to spend it.

Our congressional delegation has been asking for one and there's still nothing.

Enjoy it while you can.

It's gone in a couple years as you won't catch a perfect storm like you did in 2015.

Who is so naive to believe that a visit to the Pope by a group of Louisiana politicians will lessen human trafficking?

JBE conjures up crap like this to justify a vacation and expects all to fall for it.

Jindal did the same crap--doesn't make it right.

That's obvious. Y'all had enough money to pony up so you could send your boy to Cuba, Wyoming and now Italy.

IB and I are watching and when it's tax raising time, we'll yell even louder.

Edwards has made several trips to Washington, D.C., since becoming governor, including five times to lobby for disaster recovery assistance, following catastrophic flooding last year. He is scheduled to return to Washington twice next month for Mardi Gras festivities and the annual meeting of the National Governors Association.

He didn't raise this issue in DC.
Italy is nice this time of the year and I'm sure it will help the state budget deficit.
Wonder if he's using flood or coastal restoration money, since Dardenne is in charge of the dough.

And Jindal was roundly criticized for it as he should have been.
La. Had major problems and Jindal went to Iowa, We have the same problems now plus the flood and JBE is headed to Italy for a week.

Didn't realize the Pope was in control of US Border security and/ or monitors the I-10/ I-12 corridor...

He could have accomplished the same goals by meeting with local leadership instead of taking his wife and all his friends to Italy. The fact that so called conservatives on this board are ok with it is why this guy got elected in the first place. Louisiana deserves everything it gets politically.

Good, maybe we'll save a little on car insurance if there's one less ambulance chaser out there.

I would rather have read this morning that JBE is going to visit the Pope to warn him that the state is going to start independent investigations of Church abuse of children.

Isn't it strange that these stories have moved off of the front page since the liberal Francis became Pope?

One of the most disgusting episodes is playing out in the Pope's home of Argentina as JBE prepares to travel

What the Church knew about abuse of deaf children by priests

Unless JBE is lobbying for the Pope to send Vatican money to LA archdioceses to fund shelters at churches to assist rescued human trafficking victims....then I'm not sure what JBE is expecting to accomplish by this meeting, other than a taxpayer funded trip to Italy

A good place to stop human trafficking would be at truck stops along the I-55 corridor in Tangipahoa Parish.
