Going Forward from a Boomer's Perspective.

On my way home from vacation today, I thought about where we are and where we are going. Both my parents were veterans of WWII. Mom was an Army nurse and dad was a radio operator in the Merchant Marines. Both were traditional and conservative seeing the opportunity in America. I pretty much followed suit.
So forward to now with the rising of the Democrat Socialist of America who may be openly communist in tendency. During the time when I listed to Rush Limbaugh he said the purpose of the CIA when formed was to identify a small player in the world (not the US) who could gather a following and catch fire to start a movement. They were to ID that and do something about it.
I also read recently where somebody (I don't remember who) said the way to start upheaval and change in politics in the US was not to form a third party but rather to infiltrate and take over an existing one. So Bernie Sanders, a socialist who ran as an independent in Vermont who then ran for the presidency, ran and caucused as a democrat .
And then there is AOC and a few more and then Mamdani and now his choices for the HOR will be in place and their deal can/may take off. And in the meantime Boomer politicians on both sides have no idea what they are up against. Certainly the slack-assed Boomer republican politicians have no idea what they are up against.
So my horizon is drawing close. I did my bit to vote for the right people. But all you Gen X, Millennials, Gen Y and whatever else are going to have to fight this stuff. I remember liberal college professors in my time. It is now worse. I wish you the best of luck. Choose the right politicians. In Texas Paxton is okay. He is a fighter. But the type example now in Texas in Brandon Gill. May you find your own Brandon Gill. Because going forward there will not be getting along. It will be a continuous battle.
Mamdani said he will not follow federal law with regards to immigration. They say they will gain simple majority and then abolish the filibuster and pack the court. I'll watch all of this soon enough from my room in assisted living.
Edit: Possessive case and sentence form screw up.

Unless they take all your money, you know...."for the common good" and throw you into a camp where hopefully you will die (their wish, not mine) within 12 months.
For the sin of voting conservative and wrong think.
The rest of us will be left to sling lead and water liberty trees .
You're welcome.

How fricking self righteous.
Thanks for giving us bush, Romney, McCain, etc.
When my failed state Rep campaign came to an end, we came to a conclusion that with every obituary comes opportunity.
I welcome socialist ideologies, and hope they ruin nyc and Cali. Let them be failed experiments in governance.

If you can’t read that and come to the conclusion that he voted for the GOPe, then I can’t help you mate.

Well I'm glad you aren't voicing your trash opinion on who I voted for
You can vote GOP and not the one on the ticket....mate

You can crap on me. Fine. Just saying there is a battle to take place out there. It's gonna last much longer than me. And you will live it. For me, things were pretty tranquil. May for you and maybe not. Some leader will have to step up in the republican party to blunt all this. We can talk again after the midterms. And I think we have a good chance of prevailing there. But with every new crop of democrat politicians, they will be more and more radical. Not sure my young representative knows what to do.
Mamdani just said he will win everywhere in every type of race across the country. They've started their revolution. Am I full of shite?

Who did I vote for? What do you think?

How fricking self righteous.
I read his statement essentially as "he's stepping off the corporate board, citing successes and failures, and offering that wisdom to his successors."
I read your response as, "You have no wisdom to bring to the table, old man."
As I said, it's an odd take IMO as I've never taken a new position while holding that attitude in my life. There is always something to be gleaned from predecessors.

citing successes and failures,
What successes or failures did he cite?
I read his statement that he did his part, he left us a good stable, and it’s up to us to finish the race as he benevolently leaves us the baton.

You are not full of shite....but it appears to me that you are "opting out" of the fight to save America and leaving it to the "youngins" to fight it for you. They may not be equipped to do this without insight from older folks. If I am incorrect, I apologize.
I would wager I am older than you.

Good post. But re: liberal college profs...I'm a boomer and had a few lib profs back in the day. But they stuck to teaching the subject and did not interject their political opinions. Things have changed now. Glad I missed it.

No man. My point is this battle is just beginning. Go to Fox News online right now and read the headline. Fetterman is blasting Mamdani and his party for accepting a "member" of the party who openly calls for ignoring of federal law. And among other things:
A. The media is most likely composed communists who are thrilled to see what's happening. The bulk of media in broadcast TV and big press will never call out the danger of that sort of insurrection. The fourth rail is supposed to protect us.
B. The democrat politicians don't know what to do about it. They quivering with excitement about this movement that will allow them power. But perhaps upon reflection they might see they will be challenged and defeated unless the acquiesce to the DSA.
C. Certain state governments also refuse to follow federal law.
D. Because of all of this the DSA are pretty bullet proof right now.
E. It will take a Brandon Gill and perhaps Ted Cruz to go after them.
F. We need the next transformational republican. The republican party has to evolve.
G. I'd suggest they find a way to bring hispanics into the fold. Many work very hard.
H. Don't let them pack the court. That will be the end.
I. Many Boomers tap out in their late 70s and 80s. My time is limited. It didn't seem so just ten short years ago.
With regard to point A, McCarthy may have been correct.
Posted on 6/28/26 at 2:32 pm to aTmTexas Dillo
McCarthy was absolutely correct.
