Part of President Eisenhower's farewell address:

quote:

In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or insight by the military industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists, and will persist.

We were warned by a US president, and failed to guard against it. Since then, we have been in one skirmish or another.
As long as war is a means to make billions (trillions?), as long as death is profitable, war will always be with us.

I'm not opposed so long as we can keep the Russians from responding.

The Iranian Mullahs and Fatboy are watching. Belated, For.

Just heard Beck the other day with a quote from one of the Iranian Heavyweights..."we are successfully surrounding Israel and preparing the geo-political landscape for the return of the Madhi" (paraphrase).

That said...I'm torn. The terrorist that Assad hit are likely worse than He is. It's a no win situation.

reminds me of Clinton. Every time something else came out in Monica affair the Taliban was hollering, "everybody to the caves. he f'd up again."

Against, but I’m not privy to the info our leader is, I trust him to do the best thing for us. We let the world know where we stand on use of chemical weapons, now let’s step away.

1. Good to know Rachel Madcow posts here.

2. At least he has other countries backing him-2 major allies.

3. Clinton had much less reason to bomb Iraq and Sudan than does Trump and Syria.

And I don’t support this action.

We accomplished nothing and hurt no one. We gave Putin and Assad a pass.

Here’s a tip that will help you sleep better at night: don’t listen to Beck. He’s a nutcase.

If there is 100% proof Assad has been the one ordering the use of banned chemical weapons on his own people then he must pay a price. It seems odd that Assad would use these weapons after the US showed we would retaliate last year. I don't understand Syria/Russia's strategy on the decision to use any type of chemical weapon, they have to know either the US will act unilaterally or a UN coalition will.

Unfortunately we have to trust our government which over the past 60 years has shown the propensity to make poor decisions with regards to diplomacy and military action. I'm so hoping Trump is still enough of an outsider to smell the rats if he decides he was given questionable intel.

Plain logic makes me oppose the strikes but if this was done for a chess move to deter future larger conflicts I agree. I really don't trust anything from the media, our gov't and corporations. This is really sad but everything is propaganda from every entity. I feel if the truth about our government or corporations ever came to light we would have another revolution. Don't get me started on the financial management and moral decline of our nation.

No-we don’t have to trust our government. Over the last 15 years our government has shown a propensity to involve us in quagmires in the Middle East and North Africa, and over the last 10 years has armed and assisted America-hating Muslims in those regions. American soldiers have died for no good reason for this bullshite, and our tax dollars have been dumped into shitholes across the globe. And we have received nothing in return. Didn’t the Obama administration brag that Syria had destroyed or gotten rid of all of its chemical weapons?

So frick trusting our government. Show us the proof.
