Reduce welfare fraud. One thing that can be done is to require a government-issued photo ID to be shown whenever an EBT card is used. If I have to present an ID whenever I use a credit card, why doesn't the same apply to EBT cards?

Make EBT cards a photo ID. Solves that problem AND requiring ID to vote.

First thing I would do would restructure our welfare structure.

Basically, there would be no welfare. If you need living assistance by the federal government and you are physically able to work -- you gotta work. Now I'm now saying everyone has to go down and get a job slinging burgers. But I truly believe that welfare destroys self-worth and self-pride. Many part of our cities are crumbling, we have a huge amount of homeless that need assistance, we have miles after miles of roads needing repairs.

Let's put the people to work. If you don't work, you are no longer entitled to welfare support.

No more entitlements just for the people that don't *want* to work.

Now, people that have physical disabilities... mental disabilities - those are exceptions.

Being an a-hole, being lazy, or thinking you are too good for a labor job... no longer valid excuses.

You gotta get to work.

I truly believe if we start getting people transitioned to understand there is no free ride, then eventually they will no longer want the free ride. They will find pride in their own accomplishments and will strive for bigger things.

Maybe I'm drunk... maybe too optimistic, but I do think there are opportunities to improve our social climate, reduce our federal spending, and help the poor -- all at the same time (over an extended period, yes).

For starters... Make members of Congress pay their own settlements for sexual misconduct.

I would freeze spending day 1. By end of the next quarter, all spending, item by item would go down 2/3 of a percent. The next quarter, 2/3 of a percent, etc, until we are down roughly 2.5 percent from the starting point.

Should take the politics out of it. Keep cutting that 2/3 percent per quarter until we're in balance/slightly in surplus to start reducing principal on the debt - then in 1000 years or so, we pay that $20 trillion off.

Privatization of Social Security and Medicare, all interstates and US highways.

Close (or transfer to states) all agencies except for defense, park service, border patrol, EPA, State, and Secret Service. Greatly reform these remaining agencies, reducing their scope and budgets.

Abolish the income tax. Convert to National sales tax, excluding only food, housing, and modest transportation from the tax.

Implement Rand Paul's plans for health care reform.

We spend close to $900 billion a year in defense spending. You're telling me we can't cut 11%?

Make Europe defend itself. Our allies can defend themselves.

That’s the best plan . Cutting entitlement programs down to the people who really need them . We would have to do something to keep people from having kids they can’t afford maybe neuter them . The government would stop helping people take care of their kids . I may even cut the tax credits for people with kids .

Spending cuts are the only long term way. Spending is outpacing GDP

Simple low impact changes. COLA every 2 years instead of every year.

Yearly budget changes every two years instead on yearly. Have congress pass bi-annual budgets on non election years

Phased in age increases to SS and federal pensions. 50s stay the same, 40s and down and more years the younger you are. With 401k plans or similar fed plans for 20 something’s and phase out pensions.

Line item veto power for president. Cut pork.

Combine some departments/eliminate some. Continue to cut regulations. Simplify the tax code to eliminate the need for a large IRS

Just some simple fixes.
