This is the first time I saw first hand what they’re doing to kids. I don’t envy you guys who have kids of your own right now. It is ridiculous. There’s GOTTA be some level of pushback from folks to at least move the needle back to reality, somewhat. Doesn’t there? This is Tennessee for Pete’s sake.
A 12 year old develops opinions about politics from their parents…so your girlfriend

They have her 8 hours a day, though.
could be 1 of 2 things: Sounds like whoever spends time with her when she’s not in school is doing a lot of damage. OR She’s a normal dumb middle schooler who is acting like a normal dumb middle schooler.

Wanting to be a trannie isn't fricking normal.
Why are you trying to normalize it?
That's perverted shite.

who has her the other 16?

Did she ask for testosterone? She doesn’t know what she’s saying. She’s a typical dumb kid who is trying to process a fringe movement/fad. If the adults she lives with care to actually raise her, this isn’t concerning. But it sounds like they are expecting the school to raise her, which means TikTok is her mommy and daddy because that’s all kids talk about.

What a cop out. These people aren’t present in their child’s life if they are living in a way that puts the onus of raising their daughter on schools and school bus drivers.

My kids never knew a trans girl in middle-school. They never knew of a trans girl in middle-school. They never heard of a trans girl in middle-school.

This girl isn’t trans either. She made one stupid comment. Too bad for her, she doesn’t have a present adult in her life who can ask her questions about what she said and find out why she said it. She needs a curious person, not a furious person.
I can promise you this child heard about this from social media or television. I guess we’ll never know since she her parents don’t want to parent her.

do you think this kod is being bused across the state for school?
quote:Funny. That is my identical reaction to your defense of a broken system. You and I are talking about the same kids, I believe. Kids from single parent households, working class or lower. I think it's a-okay to criticize bad choices in those households ... BUT you are not just doing that. You are criticizing those households for not being able to overcome the public school bullshite shoveled on to kids.
What a cop out.

Where did you get this 30 minute bus commute from? That still seems like it would be across town. I doubt OP lives in a super rural area but maybe so?
My kids go to a school that is less than ten minutes away and I pass up four other schools on the commute to drop them off in the mornings. They ride the bus to my office after school and they maybe spend a maximum of 6-7 minutes on the bus. It’s not like schools only get one school bus each. There are multiple bus routes.
quote:I’m pointing out that these adults aren’t raising their own kid. What evidence is there that she was taught to be trans by a teacher?
Funny. That is my identical reaction to your defense of a broken system.
quote:and? I was raised by a single mom who worked. Most of the kids I taught were raised by single moms. Out of the hundreds of kids I taught over the better part of a decade, I never heard any of them utter the word “trans.”
You and I are talking about the same kids, I believe. Kids from single parent households, working class or lower.
This isn’t School problem, it’s a parenting problem.
