Gas tanker explodes in Haiti. What's next.

Would it be appropriate to appoint a temporary dictator to these countrys to clean up the chaos that's occurring? Gangs are hijacking fuel trucks, abducting foreigners and others. What they dont kill they destroy. A liberal democracy will not work in this system. There are no feel good social programs that will lift these thugs out of their murderous frenzy. A newly appointed firing squad system seems to be the answer. Dictaters have no qualms about executing criminals. Order would be restored.

Installing foreign despots in the interest of “order” and “democracy” has been the central tenet of American foreign policy for almost 100 years.
It ends up being a disaster every time.

You can’t be serious. It has worked like a charm over and over again. All things come to an end, and almost all dictators eventually get deposed, but we’ve had some really good runs.

Outside of South Korea and Singapore can you give me a few good examples where it works out long term. Our failures seem to leave lasting resentment and further instability I.e. Iran, Cuba, Iraq, Vietnam, Central America, South America and multiple African nations.
