Or here is another way to look at it. I won't complain because I'm not a snowflake who thinks the sky is falling every time I see something I don't like.

Well… not having air conditioning, hot water, and lights would too.

And ceiling fans can be shut off… saving on energy bills as well.

Yeah...because most people are buying ceiling fans regularly

The usual tin foil hat wearers were apoplectic saying the new bulbs would come with chips recording our private conversations, would never last as long as the old glowing element bulbs, would cause house fires, would damage existing electrical wiring, wouldn't be bright enough to light a room....yada, yada, yada.

I don't recall a single person saying any of these things.

You want people to believe you haven't changed a light bulb in over 5 years?

How about letting the consumer decide? Why has that went away?

If it’s a better product… it will take over and persevere. Just like fuel injection over carburetors.

Why are they so hell bent in the current administration to adapt the European model? That's what our founding fathers was fighting to get away from.

WTF does this have to do with the European model and our history?

I see you joined TD.com last year. If you had been posting on this board back when President W. Bush signed the legislation in 2007 phasing out incandescent bulbs and replacing them with LED and compact fluorescent bulbs, you would "remember" a lot of bitching and moaning on this board about it.

Please point out where I said that. Thanks.

My point is, back when we only had incandescent bulbs I probably had to change out a burned out bulb somewhere in the house every couple of months. I know for a fact I haven't had to replace a burned out bulb this year and probably not even last year. Just as I said, I can't remember when I last had to change a light bulb in my house.

It is mind boggling that there are people in this thread defending this administration. The only explanation is they are gay and/or transgender, they diddle kids, or they are completely dependent upon government handouts for their survival. Or some combination of the above. Nothing else makes logical sense.

First they came for your toilets. Then they came for your showerheads. Then they came for your lightbulbs. Then they came for your stoves. Then they came for your fans. Then they came for…

I don't see anyone defending the administration

Some people like myself and Russian are saying this isn't the fricking end of the world

It's a God damn ceiling fan and they want to make them more efficient. If that's on your radar of things to be worried about it might be time to go outside.

The LED bulbs create almost no heat,

That's also bullshite. I have thermal images of LED bulbs well over 120F
Maybe I was a little off with my "almost no heat" wording, but I believe I was more accurate than your claim of an LED bulb creating 120 degree heat.

The link below says the previous 100W tungsten element bulbs were "10% efficient" meaning they created 10% light and 90% heat.
LED bulbs are 70% efficient. A 100W LED creates 70W of light and only uses 30W creating heat.

And do you know how they will do this? By limiting motor size, and thus blade size, and limiting how fast they can spin. When translated into reality, more efficient will mean less effective.

It is amazing that some people continue to defend this administration, even though they are the carbon this administration wants to eliminate.

We require fans can draw no more than 10mW at higher setting. See fans haven’t been banned. Just made the ten required to violate the known laws of physics to function.

We’re almost there with auto CAFE standards. We’re reaching the point where engines would have to be more efficient than thermo dynamically possible.

That’s 100 percent bullshite. If you saw a receipt of how many LED bulbs I’ve bought for my house in 6 years you would think I live in Buckingham Palace. And they are GE bulbs, not dollar general.

I have two dim ones in the bathroom now and one out over the dining table.
