Some of y’all have no idea what he’s done for the area.. losing this seat is not a good move by the party as it’s to important to garner infrastructure dollars. Something he’s been very good at accomplishing. He’s not a RINo, he’s pragmatic in trying to gather favors to push through wetland dollars, the only way to do that is to be flexible and curry favors

Clay is what is commonly referred to as a “useful idiot”. If you told him to eat shite, he’d ask for a spoon.

He truly is America’s Trailer Park Congressman.

The Dem version of Clay is that Cohen guy who represents the AA District covering Memphis. Clown. Literally facking clown.

Perhaps you should sit this thread out. Your knowledge is suspect

the 6th Congressional District of Louisiana, held elections in 2022. The general election was on November 8, 2022.

Unless youre now going to show us how voters gave Graves a pass in 2022, for statements we wouldnt be making until 2023 ???

So much for that. These idiot Louisiana R’s win power and then put D’s in charge of committees.

They’re the worst politicians ever

Graves represents my district as well but he most certainly doesn’t vote to represent the will of the people he’s supposed to represent.

I'm willing to bet that the new guy isn't going to represent your will either...

We can all hope he can get enough turnout to beat a Dem in his “old” district, but in a presidential election the turnout will be big.
If he can get in a runoff he could have a shot, but big national money will take ove

Now... what if we had closed primaries for this race?

The final vote would be on election day... with the presidential election turnout.

So if your argument is that he would need a weak turnout December runoff to win... doesn't that mean you should support the jungle primary?

Won't happen. Some minorities are more important than others. And they happen to vote 95% (D)

I think there are 8 Hispanic-majority districts in Texas, and one black-majority.

I don't see hispanics getting that big in Louisiana.

If we had a closed primary and Graves ran in the new sixth district he’d have to first beat all Republicans by a majority vote.

Then when the general election is held he’d have to beat a Dem. If that election is held on the same day as the day we vote for president, it would be hard for him to win. But that’s not how it is currently scheduled. The General election in La. is scheduled in December when turnout is always lower.

To be fair, many posters on this thread are also criticizing Graves for supporing Trump's peach mint (he did not) and for not supporting Trump while Trump was in office (he voted with Trump 90% of time).

Yes, the Wags endorsement and the McCarthy BS happened after Graves last faced the voters.

Those two actions do not make Graves a RINO. Either he is not a RINO, or he was before the 2022 election.

Uncomfortable Facts:

There is a FAR higher PECENTAGE of RINO actions in the state legislature, than there is in the LA federal delegation.

LA is a populist state. It is a RINO state. It is why Trump - who is also a populist RINO - does so well here.

The hell it isn't.

It's protectionist and very much supported by UNIONS.

Both are HUGE liberal traits.

It's the complete opposite of small government.
