Support or DGAF? I'll go with DGAF

I think “support” is too strong a word.

Tolerate or indifferent are probably more accurate

But that's the whole point.

Those "Just as long as..." stipulations are exactly what will eventually happen as these marriages become more and more mainstream.

The baker ultimately won—this time—after hundreds of thousands in legal bills.

But 15 years from now when none of your college aged voters were alive when gay marriage wasn't a thing and the SCOTUS has flipped a few members, the next private citizen won't.

I must be clueless because I thought we were past this already and that same sex marriage was legal.

If it’s not it should be. Another missed opportunity by Republicans.

My only opposition to gay marriage is that the next step is to sue to force churches to allow them to be married in the church by the clergy. It has already been tried. For that reason. I don't think government should have any role in marriage.

Should they also kiss the KKK's arse?

What about the Church of Scientology?

There are probably lots of groups they are missing the opportunity to pander to.

Is being gay somehow analogous to belonging to these groups, in your mind?

Yes. The KKK and scientologists should live free and be able to marry who they want.

I think the comparison is pretty clear. The obvious implication of your post is that the Republican Party should pander to whomever will provide a political advantage regardless of moral principle.

Makes sense.

Tried to kill off Christians
Murdered his own mother.
Committed suicide

Pretty easy to say he was emotionally unsable.

It isn’t

I was specifically responding to the claim that the Bible clearly defines marriage as one man and one woman forever, because that’s the crux of the religious argument.

So then...totally irrelevant to this discussion. Got it.

If by “pander” you mean to avoid legislating morality, and to support freedom, then sure.

Laws exist to legislate morality.

Homosexuality was considered a mental illness and rightly so by mental health professionals... until they were bullied into changing their stance by special interest groups.

It remains a mental illness.

Labeling something as a “mental illness” or “mental disorder” is inherently subjective, which everyone in here knows and takes advantage of in the same way the left does. Any deviation of human behavior can be given a name.

What exactly makes it an illness? If it’s an illness, should we attempt to treat it? Is it something that needs to be treated? Can it be treated? Is it truly pathologic?

Or could homosexuality instead be described as a relatively common “normal” variation of human behavior, since it has likely existed at some level in all species of human (insert Homo erectus joke). It has certainly been around since humans began recording detailed history.

It is largely NOT pathologic. Life expectancy is not affected. The ability to communicate and function in society is not affected, etc. For these reasons, I would argue it is best NOT considered a mental disorder.

No way that many republicans support gay marriage. I would think around half of republicans are christians . I think at this point gay marriage is not one of the biggest issues for republicans.

I can’t believe it’s still only 55%

I’m more surprised by the fact that 17% of Dems still oppose it! I’m guessing that this is mostly composed of the group that comprises ~13% of the population or have recently “immigrated”.

17% of Dems admit to opposing it. Gay marriage failed every time it went to the voters, including in California.
