I don't give a shite about whatever he did or didn't do.
I think he's a bad pick for AG for reasons that have nothing to do with the investigation. He is a walking distraction, and his time in the House and the way he operates are an impediment to progress with the DOJ.

Gaetz was investigated by the DOJ. They exonerated him and did not release a report of their investigation. This is a political hot job.

Did they exonerate him or did they elect not to press charges for some reason? Those are different things.

It doesn't appear he violated federal laws. I think he'd have had to have sex with the minor across state lines and I imagine that was the issue with a federal prosecution.

Reading more into this case, this case involves Greenburg (friend of Gaetz at the time) who banged a 17 year old and the FBI/DOJ while charging and prosecuting Greenburg investigated Gaetz for sex trafficking (bringing her across state lines for sex) and obstruction of justice. The 17 year old that Greenburg banged testified in a grand jury exonerating Gaetz. This is why Gaetz was never charged. He did not have sex with her.
This appears to be all guilt by association and the media is running with it.

That’s a good point. I would only be opposed to replacing this pick if there is someone out there who can do the job better. This is a crucial role, we can’t have a distraction, but we also can’t have another Sessions or Barr. We also need to remember that they’re going to throw whatever they can at people who will do a good job, so anyone would be a distraction.

I think his embarrassment at the KM coup is a stronger reason than any sex/grooming scandal. It shows he lacks skill as a tactician for a role like AG.
