Just like addicts who deny that they have a problem! One must accept reality, recognize the problem and begin to rectify the problem. Denial is an addicts worst enemy.
This is exactly how the majority of blacks across this country are hurting themselves and their culture from evolving like others.
Sports aren't the only way out of the hood...education can take you a lot further!

If you took the kids at these 13 schools and transferred them to the 13 best high schools in the suburbs and then made all of the kids at the suburban schools transfer to the inner-city schools, with the same set-up and all the same teachers, I doubt that the results would be much different.
It's all about parents holding their kids accountable in school and not thinking that "it's the teacher's job to make my kid learn" and "if my kid isn't learning, it's all the teacher's fault."

They don't think that. In order to think those things they would have to actually want their child to learn and care whether he or she did or not.
They don't care if their child learns. Some of them probably think if their child learns he or she is "acting white."
Compulsory universal government regulated education doesn't work. Not in a country as diverse as ours, anyway.
