Yes, it can. By making it very difficult for a mad student to get his hands on an AR-15 in the first place.

More proof that we can't rely on cops to protect us. In a life or death situation, we should have the ability to defend ourselves.. since the police don't have a legal obligation to protect us.

Again, do cops ever get there in time to prevent these things or even stop them in short order?

Trusting cops to solve this is dumb dumb dumb.

If you’re not there when it starts, you’re too late.

As for people being there and not taking action, it stinks to high heaven.
We’ve heard similar stories before. Police forces may be relying too much on SWAT.

Saying the government can enforce a law in a thread about the government’s inability to enforce the law

A special pure kind of stupid

The last refuge has a thread about it on Twitter that implicates broward county sheriff's department and the school district in the shooting plus a host of other crimes that will make you sick.

Well that settles it. If 4 police officers fail to protect us from a bad guy with a gun, I am sure that I will feel safe if I disarm myself and let the bad guys with guns. (sarcasm)

No, its proof that you prog filth's argument that all guns should be banned and that if there is trouble you should call the police (the guys with guns) to come protect you has been destroyed...

That's putting the cart before the horse. If the student didn't have the weapon in the first place there would have been no need to call the police at all.

But, aside from that, to automatically proclaim these police officers were derelict is jumping to a conclusion. Might have had to assess the situation before charging into it. An objective person would like to hear their explanation before condemning them.

Leftists are now "let's wait for the facts to come out" when it comes to the action of police

Thought you were insinuating the cowardice of the dept was being unduly focused on and taking away from gun control discussion

I'm saying we (gun rights advocates) will probably have the urge to blame police more than we normally might because the alternative, right now, is guns/NRA. I don't want to shift from that back to guns, but nonetheless, I'm generally opposed to scapegoating police/first responders for the criminal behavior of a third party.

Here, it looks increasingly like they really deserve some significant condemnation, but part the reason I'm eager to give it to them is because of the sanctimony of that Sheriff. Cops have a tough job, and while I don't think we should use kid gloves in talking about how they failed, I don't want it to take away from the fact that a person fully intent on doing evil is generally going to succeed.
