I visited Nottoway about 30 years ago, it had been bought by an Aussie who refurbished it to its original form, even trying to do historical searches and bring back the original furniture.

There was one heir remaining, an 80 year old woman. She had two requests, that she could live there til she died, and that she could continue to smoke....in a 180 year old 40K square foot wooden house.

The guide told us many wonderful stories like this. She said in fact you probably met the heir, she is the elderly lady running the gift shop. Did you notice the young girl reading quietly in the corner....she is the watcher, we have three of them, they watch the ole lady and grab ashes when she smokes!!!

This has gone waaay too far.

I can understand the outrage over The Confederacy, and the zeal to get rid of the statues and the old Georgia and Mississippi flags with the Confederate battle flag, but now it's the very foundation of the republic at stake.

You and your ilk set this in motion and y'all need to put the genie back in the bottle.

Good luck.

No, we should all go visit these homes, and when the tour guides start up with the race baiting BS heckle and shout them down.

The very purpose of the 1619 project...to completely delegitimize the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution, and the people that created them..
