Fouci is a commentator at this point.

I am not reading all of this. Let me sum up what you should take away from this thread.

People are so easily influenced/controlled/manipulated that it is a negative to talk about facts.Merely talking about a vaccine that is not super close makes people more anxious.

So sad.

Eh. I think Doctors can get easily trapped in their decision trees. To the epidemiologist, the vaccine is the hammer. And it’s the end of all the decision trees for them. We don’t have to be trapped by their decision trees.

Well, everyone is guilty of this. The more tools you have, the more options you have. Engineers should be better at this than they are, even, because they tend to get specialized.

Having said all of that - Fauci is right, just not right now. The vaccine is clearly the answer to Wuhan, but not until the 2021-2022 season (Yes, this thing, while not certain, is likely to be seasonal). Once we get some herd immunity through initial exposure and bolster that with an annual vaccination program, the fear and lethal impact will largely go away.

Until then, we're either going to have to accept a relatively high rate of casualties or severe activity restrictions.

The simple fact is this thing is going to be over in 12 to 18 months.

If it takes that long for a vaccine, them we are fricked.

4 to 6 months, we are ok.

Chuck's point is that we should focus public service information and discussion on more immediate things. He's right. Public service announcements have nothing to do with scientific focus on vaccines vs mAbs vs hydroxychloroquine vs convalescent sera etc.

COVID19 could be with us for the rest of our lives. Not certain, but I think likely.

No, we're not. Most folks are going to shrug this off. Only for a subset of a subset of folks will this be life-threatening.

I don't see how there is any way a widespread vaccine will be in place in time to go with our normal influenza shot for Octoberish. And even if we do, that will not stop the projected 100k to 200k deaths that are coming just in the United States.

It is not Fauci's fault that it takes that long to develop a vaccine - he can't change the laws of physics.

This is not what we should do. Let the studies occur, it won't take long, then we can know if their is a positive outcome from it.

You still don't get it. We have been saying that Fauci, and all of the other "experts" should be talking about Chloroquine.

Fauci is an expert in viruses. He is not a local doctor who has direct experience with hq + x in treating cv19 patients at various stages. He can't take the word of a Dr Zelenko who isnt even testing patients for cv19 or a few anecdotal and questionable reports. You may as well ask a celebrity what we should be doing... oh wait, that's what you are doing.
