Former Sec of Air Force has his access to classified info revoked by the DOW

Former Secretary of the Air Force Frank Kendall was Secretary of the Air Force under Biden (2021-2025) and before that was the undersecretary for Obama administration for defense acquisition, technology and logistics (2011-2017). He is a registered Democrat and was a Lt Col in the Army. He also served as Corporate Vice President of Engineering at Raytheon and later as a consultant

Why these people, any of them, still have clearance after their post is over I will never understand.
If their special knowledge is needed for something, case by case clear them for THAT only and only for as long as necessary.

Part of it is the defense contractor revolving door, plus their "access" for media outlets, books, etc.
Now, on the other hand, clearance is just clearance. You have to be read on, particularly anything above collateral Secret or Top Secret (and virtually nothing is collateral TS - almost everything at that level or above is SCI/SAP and you have to be read on/read off separately).
It isn't his access to information that is getting him in trouble here - after all he was a Secretary of the Air Force. It's his big fricking mouth. They beat it into you, "You have a 75-year non-disclosure agreement. And, if they figure out you're still alive, they'll run you down and coerce/scare you into signing another one."
If they would STFU, there would be no problems with access.

I know this may sound dumb but why would any former government official or former military member be eligible to access new and updating classified information.
That access should be revoked when they hang up their boots and turn in keys to the government.

I got discharged from the Navy May 26, 1989. My security clearance expired that day. Mine wasn’t SECAF level but it was Top Secret. To this day, the military and defense contractors are still going ring around the rosey with each other. I should’ve moved to DC when I got out!
