I dunno.

One of my guilty pleasures is watching black people in front of me on the rare occasion I actually use an ATM.

Without fail, they have to check their balance.

And, WAY more commonly than should be the case, they are surprised and unhappy about it.

You should have said, "That's because I pay my card off every month and don't spend more than I make."

Question for everyone and particularly our AA brothers and sisters, I don't know about where y'all live (I'm in the KC area) but why is it that some of ya prepay when you pump your gas? I have noticed that a high percentage of black folks go inside and prepay but I've seen others too. Hell, when you pull up to the pump it's under $2.25/gallon and you're driving a Ford Focus, why the hell are you prepaying when the damn thing takes about $23 if it was completely dry?

I only use cash to pay for everything.

I decided a long time ago that I don't want anyone including the government to know how much money I have or what I spend it on.

I still want to know why no protests against 'Pretty Privilege.'

I've long realized that if a pretty woman is walking behind me toward the door of any business I always hold it open for her, smile and say 'Hi'.
If it's an ugly woman behind me I just walk in and pretend she doesn't exist. I asked my golf buddies about this and they admitted that they do the same thing.

I wonder if women pick up on this trait in males.

How would you not know if you don't have $4 in your checking account or on your credit card?

Eta: That's not a race thing, it's a basic math thing.

In Shreveport-Bossier there is no such thing as a gas station that does not require prepay.

Hey. Give the pre-payers some credit.

They are pre-paying because they know they don't have enough to fill the tank.

That means, at least they actually KNOW what the frick their balance is!

The card is declined, not because of too much white, or too much black, but because there is too little green.

What, be confident that a $4 charge was going to be approved and no receipt was needed? I'm bad about it. If I don't need a receipt, I'm gone.

I mean you really should wait for it to get approved. Machines glitch up all the time.

Because of you notice when you swipe your card at the pump it pre-authorizes funds, the pump doesn't know how much you're getting.

I see the charges on my debit card, but since I'm rarely under 2k on my balance it's not a big deal.

Remember it does this if you get gas or not and will hold for a few days if you don't.

Again, not a problem unless you're short on funds. Lots of people live paycheck to paycheck and being out $100 is big
