This BS should be confronted and stopped in its tracks!
I'm not going to do that. Its not a big deal, but you proved me a liar. I remember another time I was called out for my white privilege.
I was moving into my current home and it was being painted by a black crew. Comcast was installing cable and internet and they ran into a problem and called in an engineer. About 5 people showed up at my house to complete this install, including the area manager. Now, this was only because there was something very odd going on from a previous owner and they wanted to see it, but they all stayed and made sure everything was working properly. The area manager gave me his card and told me if I needed anything to call him.
One of the painters told me that would not happen in Jackson at the apartment complex he lives in.

I am privileged. I don't mind admitting it. But it isn't based on my skin color, it's based on my work ethic and on the decisions I made for myself. I'm proud of my privilege, I've worked hard for it.

I have honestly never seen anyone do that before.

What, be confident that a $4 charge was going to be approved and no receipt was needed? I'm bad about it. If I don't need a receipt, I'm gone.

I'm in your boat, except that my dad made everything possible with his hard work back in the day.
We grew up with not a whole lot. My dad's family cut and hauled pulp wood when he was young. Then he got a job at GP and worked his arse off. Overtime, holidays, every chance he got. Got us to middle class and put my brother and I through private school (decent school, nothing special) and helped with college for both of us.
I owe everything to him.
Too bad so many people of color don't even know who their dad is...

I'm the same way, this world don't like confident white boys

Short of a problem with the card, there should never be any reason to be "worried if your card will be declined".
1. On a date in out of town, called the card company and they said they canceled my card because it was in a group of numbers that could have been compromised. I said, thanks for letting me know.
2. I was at a strip club and the manager said it was declined. I checked on my phone and they declined the charge because the strip club charge set off a fraud warning.
3. Buying tickets to an LSU sporting event. My AmEx was declined. I said "whatever" and put them on another card because I didn't feel like dealing with whatever bullshite was going on right then. Then my buddy's AmEx was declined, he was going to pay cash but his date said she wanted to see if her AmEx would work... declined. My guess is that their system at the ticket office was fricked up because nothing was wrong with my account.

Time to demand an end to all this "blacksplaining".

should have really rocked her world and paid with your watch or something. Could have paid while you were walking out the door with your biscuit and got clothes lined in the process

I was called out for white privilege while trying to sign up my daughter for swim lessons at the local pool last week.
Sign ups began on Thursday at 8am. I showed up at the pool 5 minutes early. I was the first one in line, because I had previously been denied when classes were already full just hours after other sessions started. Hmmm
I wait at the window for about 10 minutes while 2 ladies sit at a computer. I hadn't noticed but they were hastily entering kids into the system for sign ups.
They finally opened up and informed me that all
morning and afternoon classes were full and there were only 2 spots left in evening class. I asked how it could be full when I was the first one there to sign up. Her response was I had better check my white privilege or she would ban me from the pool if I questioned her again.
I laughed at her comment and paid the 39$ for the weeks class. All I had were two 20's. I gave her both and said buy a Coke with that last dollar. It's my privilege to you.
After I got my receipt I stooped to her level and told her that those kids she was frantically getting in the system were probably related to her and were being subsidized by my privileged tax dollars. Both of those bitches about lost it.
Then I took my privileged arse fishing.

I disagree, I think you should forgot about it as soon as you hit the door. You shouldn't let someone ruined your day for just telling you their opinion. I'm sure if there were other black people in the store and heard that, they were probably embarrassed for her.
Life is short, and fast - Y2K was 17 years ago
Meh, then she will just do it to another white person who innocently does the same thing.
It's no different than what black people did in the 60s to stop racist white people in the South from telling them black people can't sit at the lunch counter.

I didn't know black people were unable to download free bank apps on their phones.

I keep only a small amount on my debit card, so sometimes lose track of when it gets too low for my purchase. Rare, but it happens. When it does I just ask the clerk to wait a moment. I log into my Merrill Lynch White Privilege Covfefe Premier account and slide a few hundred over to the card and take care of business.

The woman at the counter went berserk. "DONT YOU WALK AWAY BEFORE ITS APPROVED." At this point, the card was approved. Then she said "YOU WHITE FOLK DONT KNOW HOW IT FEELS TO BE WORRIED IF YOUR CARD IS GOING TO GET DECLINED."
I mean if anyone making an assumption in regards to race, it is the clerk. She is assuming white folks are rich and black folks are poor. Or is she simply saying cc machines are racist.

I guess you also think it was no big deal when black people were told to sit in the back of the bus when there were seats at the front of the bus.
