No way they could pull off that amount of land purchased in a concentrated area in the Eastern US without getting absolutely reamed in cost not to mention everyone and their brother jumping in to buy it first to have a nice spot inside the new Disney park.
Wiki stats show the planned America park in the 90s in Virginia would have been under 200 acres. WDW is something like 25000 acres, only half currently used. Disney will not replicate that again on this side of this country, it took a shite ton to do it when they did and that part of the state was empty as shite.
WDW is way too valuable to them, they will fight this in the courts. This will probably be battled out there for a decade or two.
Plus they can always buy local politicians to make life easier on themselves.

Or what? Disney ain’t moving. Ain’t no where else offering the infrastructure and climate Florida offers for a year round theme park. Where do you think they’re gonna go? Florida has them by the balls. And even if Disney said frick it and left, I’ll bet the majority of residents in the area would be happy.

I don't know if "stunt" is the word I would use, but I agree that to some degree you are right. That said, Disney, unnecessarily, tried to throw their substantial PR weight around against a law that didn't really effect them, all for PR purposes. So the Florida government responded in kind and checked them by essentially saying "we are giving you a pretty nice deal here. But if you want to bite the hand that feeds you (to some degree) we can go ahead and abolish that deal and make you pay your "fair share" just like the other theme parks/entertainment venues in the sate".
Disney, through its leadership, is free to have whatever position they like on legislation. But they aren't used to having the other side use its leverage to counter Disney's actions.

For a company that caters to kids and their parents, I would expect them to come out in favor of it. Being against a bill which is in place to protect kids and ensure their parents have a say over age-appropriate lessons/conversations is fricking stupid from both a business and societal sense.

What's your point?
We also know that the top 1% pays more in federal income taxes (in actual dollars) than the bottom 90%, yet we've been told over and over they still need to "pay their fair share".
So clearly it's subjective, and Florida has subjectively decided they're not paying their fair share. Good.
