News article

quote:

The state statute (1003.44) specifically says, "Each district school board shall adopt rules to require, in all of the schools of the district and in each building used by the district school board, the display of the state motto, “In God We Trust,” designated under s. 15.0301, in a conspicuous place."

Good job Florida!

I'm curious if they're going to accept the offer of the local group that said they would provide the signs for free.

quote:

Atheists of Florida wants to help.

In a Monday morning email, the Tampa-based group offered to provide signs with the saying free of charge to all of Florida's more than 4,000 public schools.

quote:

One draft version of the group's offering would state "E Pluribus Unum, In God We Trust" in the center of a circle with red, white and blue stars and stripes. Around the outside of the circle would be the words of the First Amendment, "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof."

Another draft sign would include the motto and show pictures of Jesus, Buddha, Odin and other gods.

Just one more thing for them to tear down. Why even throw fuel on that fire?

My parents didn't choose to move to a country that worships Allah. Period and end of story.

I'm a Christian, but I'm not much for these symbolic gestures. God's interested in our heart condition and not some slogan on a sign.

It's a response to the prevailing anti-traditional values movement that has swept the country. People have decided it's time to take a stand because saying nothing and letting the regressives have their way has been disastrous.

It’s the state motto.

I’m usually pretty hardline about this type of stuff but if people don’t like it they need to change the state motto.

This country was founded with, and under, God.*
Call it crazy to have the citizens reminded of that

*as found in its founding documents
