Why Canada Is Able to Do Things Better
And let's blame Trump, a new president, for our nation's decades-old infrastructure problem.
quote:
The United States is falling apart because—unlike Canada and other wealthy countries—the American public sector simply doesn’t have the funds required to keep the nation stitched together. A country where impoverished citizens rely on crowdfunding to finance medical operations isn’t a country that can protect the health of its citizens. A country that can’t ensure the daily operation of Penn Station isn’t a country that can prevent transportation gridlock. A country that contracts out the operations of prisons to the lowest private bidder isn’t a country that can rehabilitate its criminals.
And let's blame Trump, a new president, for our nation's decades-old infrastructure problem.

Since the election of Donald Trump, there’s been no shortage of theories as to why America’s social contract no longer seems to work—why the United States feels so divided and dysfunctional. Some have focused on how hyper-partisanship has dismantled traditional checks and balances on public decision-making, how Barack Obama’s rise to power exacerbated the racist tendencies of embittered reactionaries, and how former churchgoers have embraced the secular politics of race and nationalism.

It’s really quite simple: When Canadian governments need more money, they raise taxes. Canadians are not thrilled when this happens. But as Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes Jr. put it, taxes are the price paid “for civilized society.” And one of the reasons Canada strikes many visitors as civilized is that the rules of arithmetic generally are understood and respected on both sides of the political spectrum. When Prime Minister Justin Trudeau hiked the marginal income-tax rate up over 50 percent on rich taxpayers, right-wing commentators expressed disapproval—but the issue was relegated to the status of political subplot.

Secular politics of race and nationalism lol. For the entirety of our history having pride and wanting to protect your country or province or kingdom or what the frick ever has always been seen as a good thing until weirdly enough Donald Trump got elected.

They're a homogenous country with no defense spending, and no threat on the northern border and the greatest country in the history of earth on their southern border?

Why do Canadians come to the USA for operations?? Because the waiting list is too long in Canada...in short, they want to live.

The horror of a world where the government isnt taking care of someone but their community is.

Yep and large amounts of natural resources.

Easy solution. All of the "victims" who are mistreated in the US can roll on in to the shangri-la that is Canada.
It would be a win-win. Canada gets to take care of all the poor, sick and mistreated victims of the world in their state of the art tundra...and the US gets to use all the extra money finance it's needed operations.
In fact, we can created a pipeline from the US to Canada to send all the immigrants pouring into the US up there. Also, any person terrified of Donald Trump can jump on board as well. That's what they all want, right?

Not to mention a country with ~10% of the US population (or in other words, less than the state of California). Feel free to shoulder some of the burden Canada...along with your own national defense

Small population, loads of natural resources and no real military.
Just like the Scandinavian countries the leftists talk up.

You think Canada is homogenous? There are asians and arabs all over the place. Plus, people in Quebec speak a different fricking language than people in Toronto
