I don't believe anything the FBI says, so who really knows. This certainly could have been avoided.
This bears repeating. The federal government should gave zero enforcement arm on domestic land other than in DC, on federal property, at the borders, and as security details for high ranking officials. That's it.
If this guy was breaking some law, then that should be up to his state or town to deal with. The FBI can inform the local PD if they see issues, but it should be up to his local PD to determine the best way to assess the situation, not f*cking feds.
This man sounds like he was a Vietnam Vet, blue collar guy, without a criminal record. Clearly pissed about the state of the country and venting online (doubtful with any teeth behind it). Monitor the situation and maybe alert local authorities, don't go swat teaming at 6AM, basically looking for an excuse to shoot the man.
