The biggest aspect of this was the whole “it won’t keep you from getting it, but it will keep you from spreading it” bullshite. If they had just gone with the typical reason that people wear them which is to keep things OUT, mask wearing would’ve been dead in the water. The vast majority of people would not have worn them because most people were not afraid of it and the psychology would not have worked. Same with the vaccine and the spreading. “if you don’t get vaccinated and wear a mask, you’re going to kill grandma.”

Spot on. They don't help anything. I've got a buddy who still wears one Every Day at work, and he actually thinks he's smart. I guess just because he's a surgeon, doesn't mean he actually knows anything.

I actually saw people who were eating take their mask off each time they took a bite of food, then put it back on while they chewed. I couldn't believe what i was looking at.

Watching the news in 2020 I was assured that people were falling over in the street and dying, yet when I walked out on the street I saw no evidence of this (I live in Mid-City New Orleans, Tulane Avenue should have had a plethora of dead to confirm the news or phase 2 for that matter). Then 6 feet and masking (unless protesting). Then you didn’t need a mask or maintain distance if you were sitting down at a restaurant. Then it was ok for home dept and Lowe’s to be open but not other stores. —- as an aside one of the greatest inconsistencies was that these stores that customers had to check themselves out and scan their own items, instead of limiting the people that handled a scanner to employees only 100s of people handled the same equipment in succession daily.

I say all that to say that many people are still wearing masks due comfort in their ignorance
