The USS Lincoln is on an :extended: Middle East deployment supporting Iran operations, with 200+ consecutive days at sea (266 days total since November 2025).

The original 7-month cruise was extended after redirection from Trump for Operation Epic Fury and the Iran blockade.

But what most don’t realize is the USS Ford recently completed a longer 326-day deployment, the longest post-Vietnam carrier cruise.

Regardless, I will remind many here that in the height of the GWOT, the U.S. Army extended several active-duty Iraq/Afghanistan tours to 15 months to sustain the surge (and didn’t notify them until they had already completed 12 mos.)

I understand it’s different stuck on a boat, but I have to say I’m embarrassed at our Navy for complaining so loudly about extending for 2 months max. It’s a bad look to our enemies IMO.

Downvote if you support the Iranian Navy.

It was their choice to join up.

The extra pay should make them happy.

Is that the one where the sailors were breaking the toilets and setting fires in the laundry room?

Sailing around in circles in the Arabian Sea in 120+ degree temps royally sucks arse especially for flight crews, flght deck personnel, Handlers, Paddles, and Shooters. Hanger deck felt like an oven. Had that unfortunate pleasure in GW1.

It’s not the deployment as much as not making port calls.

Do you remember how that turned out? People were pissed about that too.

I’m sympathetic to that. But the ship is very well air conditioned.

The missed point is this is just one more topic where the sky screamers are completely separated from reality. It takes two months just to sail to the strait …do people think carriers just sail out there and then turn around and come back home?

As I said in another thread, my time was in an Army mechanized infantry unit. I have no point of reference here. My unit deployed for 12 months, extended to 15. In the heat of the desert.

I am embarrassed for the Navy. The sailors complaining and sending deceptive photos need to go to captains mast.
