This is only a temporary solution. You may wish to forget about DC, but they damn sure won’t forget about you as they continue to consolidate power.

The OP of this thread is arguing to destroy liberty "for my side to win". Rog disagrees with that liberty-destroying authoritarianism, and so do I. THAT is a "retarded statement"?

Progressives took over education, law, media... its lost. Until you secure or drop out of those institutions, nothing will ever change.

At the most, 20% of the people are hard core progressives. They're not going to survive without the rest.

If people of like minds would live in communities with people of like minds, you can have the type of place you want to have.

I never argued against the OP. The Right hasn't been conservative in decades. frick, even the term has become toxic here. We just had a thread the other day where all these conservatives showed their hatred for capitalism.

We're discussing a lot of terms, but not much ideology. Economically there appears to be no difference anymore.

Put bluntly, if conservatives want to save the country they are going to have to get used to the idea of wielding power, not despising it.

OR

here’s a crazy idea

Get elected and then actively work to reduce / redact unnecessary and authoritarian powers from your own government

TLDR: leave your office systemically less powerful than you found it

Precisely.

But we've had many chances, and only grew the government. I have no faith it will ever happen again.

I'll vote for the true small govt candidate, the one who realizes the best fulfillment of potential is through individual achievement, not constructing some mythical society..

Seeking to expand your power to push your world view via government isn't really "Constitutionalist" in the typical etymology of the word.

That is rich coming from one of the board’s biggest apologists for our nation’s global military Empire!

Rand Paul’s opponent just tried to hit him by saying he votes no for everything involving spending more money and saying he goes to DC to sit on his butt and do nothing.

I’m in favor of him, but that’s what rolling back the government gets labeled as.

“Send me to DC to leave you alone” is not a rallying cry compared to “send me to DC to make sure you get free school and medical care.

Wielding power to suppress the opposition (like the Democrats did) is 100% authoritarian.

I see some on here suggesting the right do the same, which is definitely authoritarian.

It needs to expand to “Send me to DC to get some of your money BACK,” but smart candidates know better than to promise things that they KNOW they cannot deliver.

Regardless of anyone’s personal opinion of the linked article, this is the truest statement in this thread. The current trajectory is simply unsustainable.

At some point gravity is going to take over and it will not be a soft landing for any of us. What comes next is the trillion dollar question.
