Wish we would stop this. I'm Lutheran for goodness sake, and in my decades of going to Church I never heard a single negative word about my Catholic brothers in Christ. Christians, now more than ever have got to leave these old hatreds behind.

have an upvote.

Honest scholarly debates, where truth is sought and reverenced, should be encouraged.

not much scholarship in this thread.

but this Pope needs to snap out of it.

Why he is the best Pope we have had since JP2, he has pushed conservative church teachings. He is also teaching the same Just War Theory the church has had for years.

Just because a war is not considered a Just & Holy War does not mean its the worst thing ever.

Ask yourself why are so many Catholics politically liberal

Ask yourself where do you get your fake news? Most Catholics are pretty conservative. You have the CrEaster Catholics that might be liberal but they are not following the church's teachings.

Well, since you feel this way, have fun over there in Iran. Hope you come back in one piece. We promise we will look after your wife/girlfriend while you are gone.

Maybe there's some context missing but this is part of what he said:
quote:

Anyone who is a disciple of Christ, the Prince of Peace, is never on the side of those who once wielded the sword and today drop bombs.

He's guarded by a company sized element of soldiers armed with
SIG Sauer P220
SIG SG 550
Glock 19
FN P90
Steyr TMP

Is God never on their side?

Core Criteria for a Just War (Jus ad Bellum)
Just Cause: The war must defend against lasting, grave, and certain damage inflicted by an aggressor.
Legitimate Authority: Only duly constituted authorities can declare war.
Right Intention: The objective must be to secure a just peace, not vengeance or territorial gain.
Last Resort: All peaceful alternatives must have been exhausted or shown to be futile.
Proportionality: The destruction caused by the war must not outweigh the evil it aims to eliminate.
Reasonable Hope of Success: The conflict should not be a futile endeavor.

According to the church this war (and many others) is not just because it was not Last Resort, you can argue if it is just cause and reasonable hope of success.

I can't be everywhere at once. Goodness flows from my being where I am. It would leave with me if I went to Iran.

You could ask people who know me, but that would require you to know me. I decline.

This is the result of having a string of woke popes. The majority of people are beyond over all this woke bullshite and having it pushed from the Vatican isn't going to win them any favor from anyone that isn't a globalist leftwing piece of trash.

This thread is a big turnaround.

Catholics bash Protestants.

Catholics claim all other denominations are going to hell.

And heretics

But let's start a thread whining that people are criticizing their pope for making a statement that does not jive with God's word.

That’s what the Catholics are pretending. You certainly nailed that.
