Yep. I'd want my pound of flesh and then some.

Does it take a bigger man to forgive Hitler with some words, or to storm Normandy, Invade Germany, and make sure he puts a bullet in his brain.
These people aren't God, when people act like they forgive others it's a joke.
The Forgiveness the Bible talks about is far more than an empty "I forgive them".

What exactly do you mean ?

I think he’s trying to say it takes a bigger person to go and kill Tyler Robinson than to forgive him. I think.

I said this in another thread...forgiveness doesn't mean freedom from consequences. It means letting go of the hatred that becomes a cancer to the soul. It doesn't mean not fighting for what's right. It means the fuel you use for the fight is righteous indignation, not hatred. Hatred makes you do evil things. God is on the side of righteousness, and he gives the victory.

When Stephen was stoned, he prayed to God to forgive those killing him.
He cannot forgive them their sins, but he forgave them for stoning them and asked God to save them, that is true forgiveness.
When people forgive, they restore the relationship that they had before, withholding retribution, yes, but more than that, bringing Christ's and word to them, like the father of the prodigal son, he restored him.
This was just another empty "I forgive you" that is prevalent in American culture.

I'm saying it's empty, empty words.
You can dislike that all you want, but those words have no action behind them.

She is evidencing a new and changed heart given by the Holy Spirit. That’s what being “born again” looks like: with man these things are impossible but with God, they are possible.

Well, God calls us to forgive and I don’t consider obeying Christ to be “empty.”

If she is going to carry out this work, she has to have more fight in her than a keyboard warrior like you. You talk big, but what have YOU actually done. I would guess very little. No judgment, I have been convicted because of my own weakness and inaction. She is fueling herself for the fight. She needs the Holy Spirit, not hatred.

Yep, she is saying what Charlie would say.

When one is filled with the Holy Spirit it makes it easier.

This is very interesting. Please explain more. I honestly do not see how it is even possible.

Saying the words I forgive and doing nothing else is empty.

We will see.
I suspect you will be disappointed how Turning Point disappears.

Forgiveness is not to let him off the hook. It frees the giver of forgiveness and doesn’t bind them up with vitriol and hatred. Basically it’s freedom to continue to do what the Lord would have them doing.

i think it is just trying to be Christ-like. Christ felt anger and acted on it, but didn't sin. It was righteous anger about how they treated his Father's house. He was murdered, but asked God to forgive those who did it instead of seeking revenge.
Charlie was a warrior, but he looked at lost people the way Jesus did and reached out with truth, love, and compassion. You can't do that when you are filled with anger and hatred. I will be honest and say I struggle with this. I feel a lot of anger and hatred right now, and I pray that God helps me forgive because I know it's right.

It's called waking the faith.
It's easy to be a Christian when it's going your way or involves people you like.
But this....this........ this is the test.

quote:
Again he asked them, “Who is it you want?”
“Jesus of Nazareth,” they said.
8 Jesus answered, “I told you that I am he. If you are looking for me, then let these men go.” 9 This happened so that the words he had spoken would be fulfilled: “I have not lost one of those you gave me.”[a]
10 Then Simon Peter, who had a sword, drew it and struck the high priest’s servant, cutting off his right ear. (The servant’s name was Malchus.)
11 Jesus commanded Peter, “Put your sword away! Shall I not drink the cup the Father has given me?”
