ANKARA, Turkey — Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has told Russian President Vladimir Putin that the international community should "give Israel a strong and deterrent lesson” over its conduct toward the Palestinians.

That's according to the Turkish Presidential Communications Directorate, which said the two leaders talked by phone on Wednesday about the escalating confrontation sparked by tension over contested Jerusalem.

The statement said Erdogan stressed the need for “the international community to give Israel a strong and deterrent lesson” and pressed for the U.N. Security Council to rapidly intervene with “determined and clear messages” to Israel. The statement said Erdogan suggested to Putin that an international protection force to shield the Palestinians should be considered.

Meanwhile, thousands of people in Istanbul defied a nationwide coronavirus curfew late on Tuesday to demonstrate against Israel’s attacks. A large convoy of cars drove toward the Israeli Consulate, waving Turkish and Palestinian flags. An image of the Palestinian and Turkish flags was projected onto the Israeli building.

The article is halfway down the page...

Yeah. Why crush Israel and end it when you can turn a profit selling arms to Israel's enemies?

One thing about the Jews. They won’t go as easily this time around as in the 30s and 40s they have a spent the last 70 years perfecting their savage war fighting skills.

Putin and Bibi get along like peas and carrots.

One of the biggest farces in the Middle East right now is that Russia supports Iran for any reason other than money and fricking with the US.

How is it a farce? Arguably Iran is the most important geopolitical ally of the Russians, and is the centerpiece alliance for some in the Russian security state. That relationship extends back into the Soviet-era as well, as the USSR was the first state to recognize Iran, post-revolution.

They've had to spend considerable time updating their doctrines, as all their enemies gained considerable experience in the SCW. They are in a very specific geopolitical conundrum, as they are getting out-competed by Turkey in the Eastern Med., don't have an expeditionary force to impose on their neighbors, and are somewhat overly reliant on airpower.

It’s not this board, at least not in a vacuum. It’s the entire American/European intelligentsia and media apparatus for the past century.
