The Supreme Court ruled in a 6 to 3 decision to restrain the federal government's ability to regulate emissions at power plants.

The case declares it unlawful for federal agencies to make 'major' decisions without clear authorization from Congress. It appears to allow for regulations focused narrowly on capping pollution from smokestacks, but blocks wider rules that set state-by-state targets for emissions reduction that would trigger a faster shift to clean energy.

Did they say whether or not the president can control gas prices? Or is that still reserved for Putin?

Biggest question is going to be how quickly does this make it through the courts as a viable reason to target a government agency’s regulation and what is a “major” decision

This is the greatest decision made in decades. These dictatorial agencies like EPA have screwed over the America people for way to long.

Especially since all of these agencies have been taken over by left wing activists.

awesome. hopefully this will affect the other agencies that love to "redefine" things (cough, guns, cough) and make 10s of thousands of people felons overnight.

So this is just the beginning right? Hopefully this is the first domino to fall and we can start gutting the power of these unelected agencies.

The EPA & the State Dept. are neck & neck for the most liberal agency in D.C. And, sadly, the DOJ & FBI are gaining on them. The term "tree huggers" epitomizes the description of the agency's employees.

IANAL, does this ruling apply only to the EPA and only to the GHG emissions and only to power plants?

Not sure what IANAL is but if you’re looking for butt stuff, take it to get soccer board.

As I interpret it, this can be used to go after all executive agencies who have written policy that was not expressly granted to them by the legislature.

In other words, they’ll be asked to execute the laws that congress legislates. Crazy idea.

Question: are a lot of these executive branch agencies doing stuff that the states should be regulating?

I do think the agencies should only take precedent on matters of interstate commerce, like the FAA for example

It’s a problem when people refer to constitutional principles as radical. These people are dangerous and the true radicals that want to rule over you with an iron fist

Temperatures are on the rise, and so is the risk of starting a wildfire. With the nation being in a drought, it only takes one spark.

So the CDC can't arbitrarily decide that landlords can't evict tenants who don't pay their rent?
