That is absolutely an area under investigation.
Phases 1 through 3 are stop gap measures designed to buy time while research like you cite continues. They are life boats.
They are trying to make the mind transportable. In a different vain, they are trying to learn how to preserve and regenerate the human brain outside of the body.
There is a building about 25 clicks outside of Beijing that has no name and no above ground entrances. The locals call it "Méiyou míngzì de jiànzhú", or "The Building With No Name". This is where they supposedly have human brains suspended in formalin and connected to machines similar to cardio bypass perfusion machines. Rumor has it, the brain of one John D. 10 years ago I would have called this insane, at this point I feel like it’s so obvious it has to be true. Do you have any links to anything I can read on this? Google doesn’t like to return the most informative search results for certain topics these days

It’s called Transhumanism. Big push on multiple fronts. Not sure it plays out that way.
How about the movie I am Legend... Dr creates the “cure for cancer” only the vax creates a rabies infection type human that much like rabies makes the person want to bite and spread the disease.

So you feel like millions of babies being murdered every single year is not enough for God to put his hand down, but if those pesky humans figure out the human consciousness and how to prolong it, that my friend is crossing the line.
