We have been calling for a real third party for years.

If we were a parliamentary system, it would work well. Otherwise, Ross Perot hands the Presidency to Bill Clinton the plurality president.

Elon isn’t really “in the middle”. He’s a libertarian. He wants to model everything after Melei.

Yep. I believe this is where Musk is headed.

Elon shares zero in common with middle America. He has kids spread around with different women.... like a inner city brother with a huge bank account. He doesn't believe in a Christian God. His mask has come off, sadly... many folks are so ate up with TDS that they cant see it. Time tells all.....

We're sitting in the middle of the biggest scandal in history. The worlds richest man has just outted the worlds most powerful man as a pedophild.

And one of the guys replying along side you beating the same drum you are has another thread where he's outlining everything Trump has said or tweeted today to make sure he doesn't run afoul of any Trump edict and in another thread is insisting he's not waiting on his marching orders from Trump.

He would just be competing for similar or the same voters as MAGA.
I'm not sure about that. I know this board likes to think of Democrats as a united leftist front of blue-haired Antifa transgender illegals hellbent on transing kids and collecting food stamps. But most of the Democrat voters I know don’t fit that mold, and, just like MAGA did in inverse prior to 2016, they pull the lever for Democrats because they dislike the only other current alternative even more.

W was widely unpopular but I voted for him anyways because Kerry was so scummy and unlikable that I basically voted myself back to Iraq because combat and the possibility of never seeing my family again was preferable to seeing that smug prick sit in the Oval.

Tons of people on this board voted for McCain and Romney simply because there was no other realistic alternative besides Obama. I think there’s a reverse image of what became MAGA on the left.

The middle left and middle right are closer to each other in belief than the fringes of either side, and together they dwarf the others in numbers. There just isn't a party that represents the true majority for them to vote for.

Are the current parties too entrenched to be disrupted before they send the whole shite house up in flames? Probably. But I’d support a viable third party that represented the huge middle ground, if given the opportunity.

Yea but Perot actually cared about America and Americans. All Elon wants is H1B slave labor.

Perot is the greatest 'what if?' political enigma that ran for office in my lifetime. Imagine how different the world would have looked today had Bush won a second term (thus no Clinton's). Now imagine the same but replace Bush with Perot and we're in a totally different world right now.

But he talked funny and bored everyone with charts and detailed outlines of his agenda.

There’s a sizable group of Bloomberg Democrats, Romney Republicans, and Wall Street Journal-type centrists that could realistically form the foundation of a viable political party—essentially the anti-Sanders wing of the Democrats and the anti-Trump wing of the GOP. The major obstacle, though, is the structure of the U.S. electoral system: the Electoral College and the absence of proportional representation at virtually any level of government make it extremely difficult for a new centrist party to gain traction. If Elon wants to give it a go by throwing $10 of billions at it mixed with his Twitter platform, give it a go.

The fact there has only been 1 independent candidate to win a major US Election (House, Senate, Governor) against a well funded GOP & Dem candidate in like the last 40 years says a lot
