This is true. The LAST time a really rich guy tried to run third party we were blessed with Bill Clinton. But I guess this time, it'll be different because... Elon. And who knows... maybe it actually will. But I very much doubt it. Trump and Elon are better when working together... both of them need to listen to each other and find a happy place in the middle to meet. If that makes sense.

Does Elon think the middle supported the DOGE cuts? They supported some of them but there is a sizeable portion of the middle that thinks they were much to draconian and Elon/DOGE went a bit overboard. I was surprised some of the lifelong conservatives I know who liked that Elon was working with DOGE but they expressed displeasure with the mass layoff of thousands and thousands of government workers in such a short period of time, saying it was heartless etc.
I wasn't one of them. I support the cuts and I still think it was possible to cut a lot of the waste and fraud over the next four years. I wasn't expecting everything to be accomplished in four months. But that's just me... The point is, I don't think Elon's "cut everything, including tens of thousands of government jobs" immediately (while wielding his chainsaw prop) is something that the middle overwhelmingly supports.

But you're GOPe RINOs in the Senate and House are opposed to those things? Or maybe they are the ones for those things and Trump had to compromise with them to some extent to get things passed. Unless you think McConnell and Thune (Turtle 2.0) are super into cutting spending, including big cuts to the military.
