I changed to no party after 2020. GOP sickens almost as much as the left. Would need to see a platform for a third party - I'm not sure "the Middle" describes me. But the GOP and DNC don't either.

I also think Elon's point is kinda dumb, because MAGA is a pretty Centrist movement, really Center Left on a variety of issues. If anything its shifted the Overton Window to the Center Left, rather than far right.

He would just be competing for similar or the same voters as MAGA.

The dirty truth is that our politics does, in fact, reflect us.

You can run a poll that asks if we should cut government and we all say yes.

Then you start cutting government and half the country has a toxic empathy meltdown about it.

There is no political solution to our problem.

Elon isn’t really “in the middle”. He’s a libertarian. He wants to model everything after Melei.

MAGA seems to be anyone who just blindly follows and accepts whatever Trump says, even when he contradicts himself.

Pretty much on the money.

Trump might have not been elected without the Perot event.

Coming out of the 80s the Republicans were rocking with 12 years of the Presidency. Bush 1 was the large favorite to get a 2nd term, then some billionaire enters the race. Perot ripped support away from Bush and thus we entered the Clinton era. That setup the Hillary vs. Donald 2016 showdown, that became legend. Trump probably does not defeat another Democrat, the party screwed up thinking it was her turn.

Well, shite. It looks like he already did that in 2024, then.

I'd be happy to take look at whatever platform they come up with, but it would likely just end up in Democrats getting elected.

What Elon should do that would actually matter is put his money and weight behind the effort to call an Article 5 convention of states.

It is the only way left for the people/our states to regain control of fedgov.

This is what a lot of the people talking about him supporting Democrat don't realize. He can just as easily spend tens or hundreds of millions of dollars for non-democrats and non-republicans.

Would our country be better off if we ended up with a true 3rd party?

Agreed with a possible exception. MAGA does fund military with a lot of spending. MAGA however, does seem to be less "find a war, any war and fight it" when it comes to the military...

Absolutely NO on a third party.

Work from within the GOP. Start to primary vulnerable RINOs (and Democrats). It will only take a few for the others to start to fall in line.

Also, start taking over major media outlets.

Just remember most of you who say you voted for Trump really didn’t. Enjoy the far right, you only got 4% in Florida. You have no chance to do anything.

You think Elon represents the far right?
