A couple of years ago I heard Altman in an interview on BBC, which is NPR on steroids.
He was all for govt putting in "guardrails" on technology.
I then heard Andreessen talk on Rogan about how the biden admin invited a group to the White House to lay out their vision of AI future. Basically they would control it and the few who wanted to play along, turning it into a far left stymied pile of manure....and he was horrified.
Then it all made sense, Altman wanted to be one of the few "winners" by letting the govt control content.
Dont trust the guy at all. Just ask Balaji, or rather his parents, since he committed "suicide".

Yeah, that’s a sorted saga Two bulldozers going at it.
from Jan. 2025:
quote:
Tucker Carlson sits down with Poornima Ramarao, the mother of Suchir Balaji, who was an AI engineer working with Sam Altman at OpenAI, and quite likely murdered for his concern about how the mass data was being captured.
The effectiveness of the AI construct is dependent on large scale mass data collection to frame the underlying information network the AI can review. The larger the data capture, the more accurate, effective and valuable the AI outcome is. More inputs equal more reviewable data, equal a more comprehensive outcome; that’s the value.
Balaji became concerned that OpenAI was capturing “copyrighted” material as part of the input data flow. Suchir Balaji soon died under mysterious circumstances.
quote:
Suchir Balaji was in charge of scooping up data, enmeshing it in the OpenAI library and noticed that some of the captured information was proprietary, copyrighted.
Balaji raised alarms and eventually became a whistleblower, because he saw OpenAI was now capturing the exclusive mental work product of others and then adding it to their AI system to create even more value.

Balaji was uniquely qualified and uniquely positioned to understand copyright infringement in AI data scraping practices. The threat of him making such a case was not just to OpenAI. It pertained to all US AI. If successful, and as China would never honor US demands to cease data scraping, the Balaji restrictions would have given China a massive upper hand in the AI wars. So one could easily imagine elements in US intel regarding Balaji as a national security threat.
However, if the government was involved, it could barely hope for a better messenger to bring that accusation than Tucker Carlson. In Tucker, they have someone who comes across as certifiably crazy. The fact that Tucker is making the argument, lends other media sources to shy away from it, lest they be associated with a lunatic spreading crazytalk.
So concerns about Balaji's case fall in the category of the proverbial "The right message, in the hands of the wrong messenger, ends up in the waste basket."

Elon Musk and his autist self puts up with no nonsense, especially deceit.

In addition to being an evil psycho who’s maniacally obsessed with enriching himself he’s also a homo who raped his sister. Other than that he’s probably a nice guy.

Sounds good to me. If the case is strong then Open AI will lose. I thought it was crap that OpenAI tried to backfill when Anthropic wanted guardrails for autonomous weapons but the US military wanted complete control. Altman didn’t care and signed up. So I favor Anthropic.
My observation was just that Musk lost a lawsuit to Altman already. So I’m not surprised he is yapping about him now.

Thanks for that. Was about to ask what was going on there.
For goodness sake, you'd have to be a legit dolt to trust a Sam Altman phone.
