And china will manufacturer and ship through other countries to circumvent anti-dumping. Most asian countries have been on the foreign entity of concern list off and on depending on the product.

Also, China has taken a page out of the Italian playbook (pass off Albanian manufactured goods as Italian). China retickets or retags much from China as made in Vietnam (Vietnamese origin duties are less than those of China in many markets).

What's interesting about Elon online outburst is the sensitivity Elon has to Navarro calling Tesla an American car assembler and not an American car manufacturer.
It's like Elon wants to benefit from globalists trade practices but at the same time wants to dabble in the nationalists political arena.
Elon is aligned with MAGA when it comes to social issues. Elon and his tech bros. are not aligned with MAGA economically. You can see cracks in the relationship with this issue with Navarro and the HB1 visa issue.

To be fair, Tesla does have a pretty high American content compared to others but, like every auto manufacturer out there, they do have a fair amount of foreign sourced parts.
Currently it is pretty unavoidable although Musk is moving more and more battery production to the US and away from China.
One thing of interest; it is difficult, if not impossible, to discern American from Canadian content as they are not split out from one another currently.
