This would be one of the biggest changes in politics in 25 years.

Consider this; If he did buy it for $40B, and somehow Twitter stock dropped to zero, he'd STILL be the richest person in the world by miles.

Not really. It is an offer to buy 100% of twitter at $54.20/share OR abandon his position altogether. This is a cash offer, but it would be financed (translation: Musk is not selling shares of TSLA to do the deal). TWTR is currently $51.90. The TWTR board and management would obviously get kicked to the curb, and so will fight tooth and toenail against Musk. The more likely outcome here is Musk selling off.

Ooooh. There is the money shot. Dumping all his shares at once will TANK the stock price. Especially when other shareholders jump in to prevent themselves being bagholders.

This!!! The Board is now officially screwed. They have two choices.
1. They can sell to Elon. This makes them wealthy, but it also gives Elon control of Twitter.
2. They can not sell, but they are hedging their bets that he doesn’t follow through with the not so subtle hint to “reconsider my position as a shareholder.” Translation- I dump my stock. I make bank while you all take heavy losses.

Well played, Elon. Well played.

Upvote. Thanks for the correction. I need to steer clear of conversations about stocks.

Then he will tank it...probably along with a couple of other large shareholders.

All the totalitarians are going to abandon Twitter in protest.

Going to be glorious.

Class D status limits that somewhat.

He did a sit down interview with them in the past year, in December I think, where he criticized woke culture and its killing of humor. I just think he likes their satire and twatter's banhammer was a last straw for him.

I would say it is. He declined the board position so he could buy it outright.

No.

He declined the board position because they would handcuff him.

He wants free speech. Twitter doesn't.

He is buying it “outright”.

It isn’t a “hostile takeover”.

Didn’t they teach you anything at conspiracy school?

this works, Parler and Trump’s social media platforms are probably dead

Both already are. Parler was essentially exposed as a honeypot, and Truth Social isn't ready. The resistance is already set up and working on Gab, which fills a niche that even a Free Twitter isn't going to really touch.

I wouldn't bet against Elon.

Entire management structure of Twatter would be gutted immediately and I’m extremely excited about that prospect.
