When you got nothing left to contribute to the discussion/disagreement just whip out some "Boomers" drivel. That'll show'em.

Great publicity stunt. I don't see it as being practical any time soon.

I'm in this camp.

Amazing tech. I'm not sure how practical it is in real world applications.

I guess there could be an ability to launch over a fixed obstacle as a collision avoidance strategy. The aero abilities with the downforce fan are pretty real, this has been done previously with the Mcmurty Speirling.

I can't imagine what all that hardware will cost though to build it such that it is reliable enough for a regular person to own & maintain. I'd also have to assume some very low range based on keeping the batteries light.

And I'm sure there will be some legislative issues for being road legal.

I'm genuinely curious as to how the user would control the acrobatic maneuvers. Would they be geofenced to private property in order to make it street legal?

Interesting times.

This is the very best of the American dream, and libs will act like children about it and sue and regulate him into oblivion out of pure political spite

This is what we cant have nice things

I have said nothing bad about Elon and certainly haven't said anything positive about Bezos

So no, it's not true.

you've said on here many times that you generally avoid defending the right wing because those voices are already over-represented on this forum.

I'm not shocked you can't describe that well, either.

I say I don't automatically jump on the NPC thread du jour attacking the left because it's over-represented on here, which is significantly different than the above quoted language.

I also said that 1 of my 2 biggest issues with MAGA is the idiocy involved, which I don't shy away from. I don't want non-Left options looking bad because of their silliness, so I do attack that.

Provide your definition of flight. It’s such an odd stance to claim this isn’t basic flight. The definition barrier is easily crossed with this demo..

Do you believe the first wright brothers fights”flights” were flying?

Elon himself didn't trust a human to operate the Roadster from within the car last night. It won't take lawsuits or regulation for Elon to understand the issues with producing a vehicle with the tech shown last night used for common transport

You're overthinking this

In practical terms flying car means that flying is one of the means of transportation

If the car can't fly you across town it's not a flying car

Do I need to build a huge ramp in my backyard for a flying car?

I'm down for whatever it is, looks cool. But you don't need that stuff for a flying anything.

They used the ramp to show the car's capability in creating downforce.

The car flew over other cars in one of the demonstrations.

You people should watch the videos before speaking. You're annoying.

How bout, your filming a movie about speedy cars and you go for a spin with a buddy before hand, he goes too fast and loses control, and right before your car hits a tree and explodes, the rocket thrusters kick in an avert a crash, then you go back and finish making your movie?

The debate is whether this is flight not sustained flight.

It’s not billed as a flying car. It’s a tech demo of future capabilities and technology progression towards flying vehicles

They say this car can accelerate from 0 to 60 in under 1 second.

G forces like that can and will wreck most people.

Of course, the old 80s movies predicted flying cars by the year 2000, and with good reason. Technology was advancing so fast back then that it seemed unlimited. For whatever reason, we slowed down. NASA seemed to halt innovation and begin borrowing it from CERN and DARPA, and even discontinued the Shuttle program.

In steps Elon Musk, to put us back in charge, give us things we haven't imagined, and probably usher in an era of AI that will ultimately lead us to extinction, though I believe that to not be his intent.

Anecdotal, but for years now I've been watching videos of single passenger drones (flying cars, if you will) on the YT and they're terrifying but absolutely awesome.

they can't help themselves.

The same crowd that things women can have a dick are getting persnickity about a car that literally took flight.

That’s what I’m saying. They are bending over backwards to oddly claim this isnt flight when it easily passes the test.. and bc it’s not flying across the city yet then it’s not flying.

Yes it is.
