I think the distinction arises when your speech produces harm. Maybe you haven't thought this out, but if you have a diner and you make up fliers about your competitor's diner about how everybody gets food poisoning there, he closes and you profit as a result, was that just "free speech"?

I believe those who had lawyers were able to withstand lawfare and get that shite thrown out.

No. Rudy has a huge judgment against him.

The GA and AZ cases are still ongoing, too.

Trump had his DOJ avoid arguing against its "Unified Executive" theory in the federal Florida case by dismissing the case of his co-Defendants prior to the appeal being heard in the 2nd Circuit.

Many lawyers were disciplined. some disbarred.

I have defended against defamation lawsuits for clients. Bowman will not have an easy road even with a gofundme

Well it's a different discussion for normal people and micro impact.

I get that completely.

This is more of letting the shallow idiots know that falsely accusing someone of racism in any environment will have negative consequences on the person accused for a long time

That is a he said/she said situation where even if you could win a judgment, you likely won't collect anything.

I wasn't looking to "win a judgement" as much as I was looking to make sure I didn't lose my job over something that never happened. Not only that but the near weekly harassment from HR with stupid questioning was annoying as frick. "Tell me, EZE, how are you not a racist". LOLOLOL

Idiots.

Just not typically economically viable (and I have been involved in defamation litigation before a few times. Won't touch it now)

Well, no, at that point it is just about trying to save your integrity from a bunch of morons. Many people who work hard are willing to pay a price just for that.

As a self-proclaimed staunch advocate for criminals, one would think you would know the difference between criminal and civil.

I'm not saying it is or it isn't but you keep bringing up legal vs illegal which isn't an issue

Defamation and libel are not limited to public figures. Where did you learn that?
