Makes you wonder if draining the swamp is even possible.

It's really impossible to right this ship.
You'd have to fire every single person.
Once the slate is completely wiped, you'd need to hire a shite ton of those autistic kids like Elon got for DOGE and fill every position with them.
Then cut access off to them so they can't be bribed and conceal their identities so they couldn't be threatened.

Is it true that Elon stole Stephen Miller's wife?
Maybe that's how Musk got the black eye.
Although I don't see Miller as man enough to do that.

and try and grow our way out of the debt.

This is not possible.

Your tax receipts are about 20% of GDP. That means for every $1 of deficit you need to add $5 in GDP.

This means we'll need to increase our GDP by $10T/year to overcome the BBB deficits of $2T. That's just to break even.

I feel bad for Elon. He put it all on the line to truly try and help fix the problem but the DC machine was just too powerful.

Now, as soon as the Dem regain control of the House, they will be coming for him guns a blazing.

I’m sure he regrets ever getting involved in politics

There are rumors Elon got in a fight with Miller and Bessent, and I doubt both can be true (if either are)

Congress is so fricked up. We’ll never be able to fix it

Congress will be the undoing of this country. Awful candidates are voted on by low information voters and we get the Crocketts and MTG's of the world running our country.

We are fricked no matter who is in the White House.

You can see it in the posts Trump made about Rand today. He said growth over and over. I saw a pretty good post today about how it's a hail mary.
quote:

The exception is Mr. Trump, a businessman-outsider to government trying to pull off an escape from the deadly debt quandary. It’s probably impossible, but he is trying nonetheless. It has three main features: 1) to readjust trade relations that, in theory, would restore industrial production across the land — a bootstrapping operation to kick off “growth.” 2) to engineer a severe re-set of the money system that would effectively amount to defaulting on debt but somehow without the feature of disappearing money. At best, this would induce some kind of fall in living standards, but mostly among the small sector of financial buccaneers who thrive on swindles and the Boomers living on investment accounts (figment wealth), who are now dying off anyway — which is to say, Great Depression Lite. And 3) the least understood feature of Trumpism: to decouple the USA from the resource scarcity in the rest of the world, and the consequent strife it’s inducing, and withdraw into a sort of Fortress North America that can somehow carry-on self-sufficiently while everybody else collapses.

Trump's Parlous Gambit.

I’ve always said good people, with good intentions will never be allowed to do good things in DC and once you get there you have a choice to comply or get targeted.

He will be targeted. Trump better pardon him soon.

It's also how they do the bidding of the MIC that's a killer.

It's telling that we couldn't even bring spending back to 2019 levels.

2012 financial crisis increases spending massively
Democrats maintain that level of spending
Republicans normalize that level of spending
2020 COVID increases spending massively
Democrats maintain that level of spending
Republicans normalize that level of spending

I doubt this little tiff did much, but I give Elon 6 months until he splits.

How long before they're giving Musk the Thomas Massie/Rand Paul treatment?

It's crazy to me how quickly they were able to manipulate and mobilize their bots over him.

Trump's first term, I thought it was. Now I don't believe its possible. No way to root out all of the corruption. And those doing the corrupting aren't going to stop. I believe they would destroy America before they gave up their grifting.

I give you an A for effort, but these economic Einsteins in here truly thought tariffs would replace the income tax.
