They have far more in common than they do otherwise which is why they found themselves in an alliance to begin with.
If anything its just two large egos trapped on a small team where only one can be in charge. That typically has a shelf life and a poor landing until they reset.

The "feud" between Musk & Trump is 1000% engineered to see who that alleges to be in the MAGA orbit will stay true to the cause. That idiot like Chuck Schumer and Adam Schiff are following this Pied Piper pantomime and openly agreeing with Musk on matters like the Epstein investigation is gravy.

Musk is autistic. He's a genius and wealthy. He reacts viscerally when people lie about him or question him too much. I think he's got a reasonably high tolerance for criticism but when he feels genuinely cut he just loses it.
He's not entirely unlike Trump in that regard. Elon will just blow his top and all sorts of insanity comes out, while Trump just simmers and won't let it go and allows it to drive him for weeks and weeks until/unless he gets the reaction he wants or the target in question bends the knee.
I think if Elon had kept his cool and just needled Trump for the next week, it would have been way worse and would have consumed Trump much more. But I picture Trump thinking "mission accomplished" when he got Elon to break, which in retrospect may have caused the whole ordeal to peak and flame out quickly.

I really hope Elon and Trump mend fences
I have been favorably surprised and very pleased with Trump’s restraint on this; he has been subdued and and somewhat complimentary of Musk

Elon seemed to completely lose it when Trump withdrew Jared Isaacman from the head position to run NASA. Isaacman and Musk are extremely tight and im sure would work hand in hand on a bunch of Elon’s objectives at SpaceX . I could be wrong on the timeline but it seems like that’s when he became unhinged
