I read that the average EV price is $57,000.

Also, worldwide lithium ore mined is 100,000 metric tons per year. 45% is used for EV batteries. The rest for other consumer products.

There were 15.1 million vehicles sold in the United States last year. Less than 500,000 were EV’s. If 100% of all lithium in the world was used for ev batteries, there would be 1 million ev made.

How in the hell can we have people, not just the current illicit administration, but others, buy into the ev bullshite?

We have an ignorant populace. We have illiterate and corrupt journalists. Actually, they aren’t journalists. They are social media whores parading as journalists.

People don’t care. They don’t take the time to learn and think.

We are screwed.

It just hurts the business case more that they are ticking time bombs

$20k down payment
$400/m for 6 years
$200/m battery replacement fund

Gas needs to be $20 a gallon for me to break even on that compared to just chugging along with my 15mpg Yukon Denali XL

Their goal isn't for everyone to drive EVs (those will be reserved for the elites). Their goal is for everyone to take public transportation... Just like the good ole days in the Soviet Union.

I have never understood electric cars as an alternative to gas engines. Hybrids are probably as good as it’s going to get for reducing the need for gasoline.

In the short term - yes.

The long term - who knows what tech will be developed. But with what is available now, hybrid is easily the best choice in terms of environmental impact / cost.

The move to all electric is moronic.

It's simple. Just buy an EV and plug it in. The electricity is there for some minor price. Fast forward to 100 million EVs on the road. It saves the world from the nastiness of petroleum. And again, the electricity is there for a minor price. Just remember green energy and renewables. That's what they say and the bobbleheads nod in the affirmative.

You should try, because you vote for people who want to shove them down your throat.

And get shoved off the subway platform into the path of an oncoming train, get stabbed, or robbed.

Well, when you "reset" everything, doesn't it restart at zero?

This, I really wish that Elon and Tesla would have released a game changing Hybrid vehicle over their all EV line early on. Knowing Elon and their engineers they'd probably double the 60+ mpg that the Prius currently gets and that would have been the perfect first step to getting more people on board to EVs.

Essentially. They want to end private vehicle ownership. Yang campaigned on ending private auto ownership and having a nationalized fleet of EV taxis/rental. Basically public transportation but not necessarily trains and busses like we typically think of.

The ICE and Private vehicle ownership = freedom. EVs can be shut down remotely and the grid will be controlled by the gov. Would be an effective way of forcing the next round draconian lockdowns in a country full of gun owners…
